Robert B. Charles
Robert B. Charles (born 1960) is an American lawyer and Republican political figure. He was assistant secretary of state at the U.S. State Department's Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs from 2003 to 2005. He served under Secretary of State Colin Powell. Early life and education Charles grew up in a small town in Maine. He received a J.D. from Columbia Law School in New York, M.A. in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (PPE) from Oxford University in England, and A.B. from Dartmouth College in New Hampshire. Career Charles began his career as a law clerk to Judge Robert R. Beezer of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit from 1987 to 1988.
