Rob, Velike Lašče
Rob () is a settlement in the Municipality of Velike Lašče in Slovenia. The area is part of the traditional region of Lower Carniola and is now included in the Central Slovenia Statistical Region. Name Rob was attested in historical sources as ''Rab'' in 1463, 1467, and 1484. The name is derived from the common noun ''rob'' 'edge'. The village is located at the edges of the Rute Plateau and Mačkovec Plateau, where they meet the alluvial valley of the Rašica River and the Mišja Valley (''Mišja dolina''). Church The local parish church, built on a hill north of the village, is dedicated to the Nativity of Mary and belongs to the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Ljubljana. Rob Riley (comic Strip)
''Rob Riley'' was a British comic strip that appeared in every issue of Ranger comic before this was incorporated into "look and Learn" after forty issues. Rob Riley continued to be featured during the 1960s and 1970s. It was a black and white strip drawn by Stanley Houghton. It was a fairly realistic strip about an eponymous contemporary British schoolboy, set in the fictional town of Westhaven-on-Sea. Originally, this town was based upon Dartmouth in Devon, although the later aerial pictures show the town as being an oyster-shaped bay. Dartmouth Castle is shown in the first ever instalment of the story in Ranger, dated 18 September 1965. An amalgamation of Dartmouth and Kingswear can clearly be seen in the bottom panel of the first page instalment of Rob Riley appearing in "Ranger", dated 20 November 1965. Tae is a language spoken in Tana Luwu (Land of Luwu). It is an Austronesian language of Sulawesi, Indonesia, and one of the languages of the ten tribes that inhabit Tana Luwu, South Sulawesi. The Tae language is used by most of the inhabitants of the three regencies of Tana Luwu (Luwu Regency, North Luwu Regency and East Luwu Regency), and the city of Palopo. Robbery
Robbery is the crime of taking or attempting to take anything of value by force, threat of force, or by use of fear. According to common law, robbery is defined as taking the property of another, with the intent to permanently deprive the person of that property, by means of force or fear; that is, it is a larceny or theft accomplished by an assault. Precise definitions of the offence may vary between jurisdictions. Robbery is differentiated from other forms of theft (such as burglary, shoplifting, pickpocketing, or car theft) by its inherently violent nature (a violent crime); whereas many lesser forms of theft are punished as misdemeanors, robbery is always a felony in jurisdictions that distinguish between the two. Rob (dog)
Rob (1939 – 18 January 1952) was a Collie dog who in February 1945 was awarded the Dickin Medal, considered to be the animals' Victoria Cross. He was alleged to have made over 20 parachute descents during the North African Campaign, serving with the SAS. However, in 2006, his actions were revealed as being a possible hoax perpetrated by members of his regiment in order to prevent Rob leaving after his original owners requested his return. Early life and military service Rob was a working dog on a farm in Shropshire until 1942, when his owners, Basil and Heather Bayne, enlisted him as a war dog. Assigned to the Special Air Service at the base in Wivenhoe Park, Essex, Rob's official designation was war dog No 471/322. He was used as a messenger and a guard dog. Dickin Medal Rob received his medal in London on 3 February 1945. The citation read "For service including 20 parachute jumps while serving with Infantry in North Africa and SAS Regiment in Italy." Robertsonian Translocation Robertsonian translocation (ROB) is a chromosomal abnormality wherein a certain type of a chromosome becomes attached to another. It is the most common form of chromosomal translocation in humans, affecting 1 out of every 1,000 babies born. It does not usually cause health difficulties, but can in some cases result in genetic disorders such as Down syndrome and Patau syndrome. Robertsonian translocations result in a reduction in the number of chromosomes. Mechanism Humans have 5 autosomal chromosomes with arms that are particularly discordant in length, known as acrocentric chromosomes. These are 13, 14, 15, 21 and 22. When these chromosomes break at their centromeres, the two resulting long arms may fuse. The result is a single, large chromosome with a metacentric centromere.
