Roadchef Motorways Limited is a company which operates 21 motorway service areas in the United Kingdom. History Roadchef was founded in July 1973 as a joint venture between Lindley Catering Investments and Galleon World Travel, with the first Roadchef opening at Killington Lake Services on the M6. By 1998, Roadchef had built a portfolio of 21 sites. A large expansion occurred in 1998 when Roadchef agreed to purchase Blue Boar Group and Take A Break for a total of £80million, gaining the company an extra four services plus one under-construction site. In September 2014, it was announced that owners Delek Group were selling Roadchef to Antin Infrastructure Partners for £153million. Catterick services is a proposed motorway service area (MSA) near to Catterick, North Yorkshire, Catterick village in North Yorkshire, England. The services were first proposed in 2019, receiving planning permission in 2022, and a revised permission in December 2024 due to a legal issue with the previous approval of 2022. The services have been objected to and criticised due to the location of the site as it will affect wildlife in the area. It was also objected to on the grounds of other nearby services along the stretch of the A1(M) motorway, A1(M) in North Yorkshire, however, government designations state that Leeming Bar, Coneygarth, Scotch Corner and Barton Park services are all ''motorway rest areas'' (MRAs), not being of sufficient standard to be motorway service areas (MSAs). Norton Canes services is a motorway service area on the M6 Toll, in the village of Norton Canes near the towns of Brownhills, Cannock, and Walsall, in Staffordshire, England. It is operated by Roadchef, which has a 25-year lease on the site. The company also uses the site as its head office. History Opened on 9 March 2004, the site the site was announced as featuring table service in the restaurant during the evening and free windscreen, screen washes in the petrol station during quiet periods. Killington Lake Services is a motorway service station on the M6 motorway between Junctions 37 and 36 near Killington Lake in Cumbria, England. It was opened in 1972. History It opened on Wednesday 17 May 1972, southbound only, run by BP. Tebay, on the northbound side, nine miles to the north, opened the following month. Structure It is owned by Roadchef. It comprises a BP petrol station, a Days Inn and a main facilities building with a Costa Coffee outlet and WHSmith newsagents. A McDonald's restaurant opened here in March 2014.
