''RnB'' is a collaborative extended play by Nigerian singers Ruger and Bnxn. It was released on 18 April 2024, by Blown Boy Entertainment, TYE Entertainment, and Empire Distribution. No other artists were featured on the project, and the project features production from Blaisebeatz, Sarz and Kukbeatz. Background In August 2022, Ruger and Bnxn (formerly Buju) were involved in an online altercation, primarily fueled by their fans' rivalry. Bnxn explained in a Billboard interview that the fan-driven "excessive stanship" in Nigeria contributed to their clash, as fans of one artist would often attack the other. Ruger and Bnxn both acknowledged that their fans' actions, both online and at live events, intensified their feud. Michael Adebayo Olayinka (born 23 September 1999), known professionally as Ruger is a Nigerian singer-songwriter and performing artist. He rose to fame with the release of his song "Bounce", which led him to sign a recording deal with Jonzing World, in 2021. That same year, he released his debut extended play, ''Pandemic (EP), Pandemic''. In 2024, he left Jonzing World to start his own imprint, called 'Blown Boy Entertainment'. Early life Michael Adebayo Olayinka was born on 23 September 1999 in Lagos, where he was also raised. He is originally from Yagba West Local Government Area in Kogi State, Nigeria. Career Olayinka was discovered by D'Prince, who gave him the name "Ruger". His first song recorded seventy million views in three days. Afrobeats, not to be confused with Afrobeat or Afroswing, is an umbrella term to describe popular music from West Africa and the diaspora that initially developed in Ghana, Nigeria, and the UK in the 2000s and 2010s. Afrobeats is less of a style per se, and more of a descriptor for the fusion of sounds flowing out of Ghana and Nigeria. Daniel Etiese Benson (born 14 May 1997), known professionally as Bnxn (pronounced as Benson) and formerly known as Buju, is a Nigerian singer, songwriter and record producer. Early life Daniel Etiese Benson was born in Lagos. He hails from Akwa Ibom state, grew up in Gbagada with his family, but relocated to Ogun State. Benson was introduced to Afropop through Nigerian music artists 2Baba as a child, and credits Burna Boy as his inspiration for becoming a musical artist.
