Rizal (province)
Rizal, officially the Province of Rizal (), is a Provinces of the Philippines, province in the Philippines located in the Calabarzon region in Luzon. Its capital is the city of Antipolo. It is about east of Manila. The province is named after José Rizal, one of the main national heroes of the Philippines. It is bordered by Metro Manila to the west, Bulacan to the north, Quezon to the east and Laguna province, Laguna to the southeast. The province also lies on the northern shores of Laguna de Bay, the largest lake in the country. Rizal is a mountainous province perched on the western slopes of the southern portion of the Sierra Madre (Philippines), Sierra Madre mountain range. Rizal, officially the Municipality of Rizal (), is a municipality in the province of Occidental Mindoro, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 40,429 people. SM ''UB-50'' was a German Type UB III submarine or U-boat in the German Imperial Navy () during World War I. The U-boat was ordered on 20 May 1916. She was commissioned into the Pola Flotilla of the German Imperial Navy on 12 July 1917 as SM ''UB-50''. The submarine conducted seven patrols and sank 40 ships during the war for a total loss of and 16,499 tons. She operated as part of the Pola Flotilla based in Cattaro. The ''Rizal'' class was a ship class of two patrol corvettes formerly operated by the Philippine Navy. These ships were formerly used by the US Navy as ''Auk'' class minesweepers. Under the Philippine Navy, the two vessels have undergone upgrades and modification, and were categorized as corvettes. Both ships have been retired from service by the Philippine Navy. Dr. Jose Rizal Park is a 9.6 acre (39,000 m2) park on the west slope of Beacon Hill in Seattle, Washington, United States. The land, condemned by the city in 1917 for engineering purposes, was acquired by the Parks Department in 1971, and the park was dedicated eight years later. The park is named after José Rizal, the de facto national hero of the Philippines. Rizal Park is bounded on the west by Interstate 5, on the north by Interstate 90, on the east by 12th Avenue S., and on the south by S. Judkins Street and the Jungle. Rizal Avenue, also known as J. Rizal Avenue, Avenida Rizal or simply Avenida, is one of Manila's main thoroughfares, running with two to six lanes from its Santa Cruz, Manila, Santa Cruz and Quiapo, Manila, Quiapo districts to the Bonifacio Monument (Monumento) Circle in Caloocan.
