Riverview Carousel At Six Flags Over Georgia
The Riverview Carousel at Six Flags Over Georgia is an antique carousel in Six Flags Over Georgia in Austell, Georgia. It was built in 1908 by the Philadelphia Toboggan Company (PTC) as Carousel No. 17 and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1995. It contains four wood-carved chariots and 69 wood-carved carousel horses arranged in five rows around the carousel's center. The Riverview Carousel is one of only four 5-row carousels built by PTC and one of only two that survive, the other being the Prince Charming Regal Carrousel (PTC No. 46) in Magic Kingdom within Walt Disney World in Bay Lake, Florida. Austell, Georgia
Austell is a city in Cobb County in the U.S. state of Georgia. It is part of the Atlanta metropolitan area. As of the 2020 census, the city had a population of 7,713. History Game hunters and trappers frequently went through the area that is now Austell on their way to the area's salt licks. These early visitors claimed the area's waters had medicinal properties. It soon became a destination for therapeutic healing, leading to the founding of a town known as Salt Springs. As immigration increased and demand for land near the spring grew, G. O. Mozely donated and subdivided of his land, enhancing the loose settlement with a street plan. Later, the spring was renamed Lithia Springs due to the water containing lithium carbonate, and the neighboring city of Lithia Springs was founded in 1882. Philadelphia Toboggan Coasters (PTC) is one of the oldest existing roller coaster manufacturing companies in the world. Based in Hatfield, Pennsylvania, it was established in 1904 by Henry B. Auchy and Chester Albright under the name Philadelphia Toboggan Company. The company manufactured carousels, wooden roller coasters, toboggans (roller coaster cars) and later, roller coaster trains. History The Philadelphia Toboggan Company was incorporated on January 20, 1904. It built and designed roller coasters until 1979. Notable designers included Joe McKee, John A. The Prince Charming Regal Carrousel (formerly Cinderella's Golden Carousel) is a historic carousel attraction within the Magic Kingdom of Walt Disney World in Bay Lake, Florida, United States. It was originally built by the Philadelphia Toboggan Company (PTC) in 1918 and was among the Magic Kingdom's attractions present during its opening day on October 1, 1971.
