The Rivers State Broadcasting Corporation (RSBC) is a government owned, controlled and funded public broadcaster in Rivers State, Nigeria. It was created by Edict No. 8 of 1973. The headquarters of the Corporation is at 2 Degema Street in Port Harcourt. Alfred Diete-Spiff
Alfred Papapreye Diete-Spiff (born 30 July 1942) was the first Military Governor of Rivers State, Nigeria after it was created from part of the old Eastern Region, Nigeria. He held office from May 1967 until July 1975 during the military administration of General Yakubu Gowon. He was also a member of the Supreme Military Council. Diete-Spiff is an Ijaw from Bayelsa State and the Amayanabo (King) of Twon-Brass, Bayelsa State, born on 30 July 1942. He was educated at St. Joseph's College in Western Cameroon and Britannia Royal Naval College in Dartmouth, England. He joined the Nigerian Navy and was commissioned ships diving officer in 1964. Radio Rivers
Radio Rivers 99.1 (also known as Radio Rivers 2) is the first state-owned FM radio station in Rivers State, and the second FM radio station to launch in Nigeria. Rivers State Television (abbreviated RSTV), UHF channel 22 is a state-owned television station in Port Harcourt city, Rivers State. It began its operation in 1985. Initially, the station's broadcasting power was 1 kW and signals were transmitted on UHF channel 55. Gabriel Imomotimi Okara (24 April 1921 – 25 March 2019) was a Nigerian poet and novelist who was born in Bumoundi in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, Nigeria.
