''Riverrun'' is the musical project by the British electronic music group Underworld, released between and , exclusively on the band's official website, as a series of three internet-only EPs, and as limited 12" vinyl releases. Background While touring the album ''A Hundred Days Off'' in 2003 through Australia and the Middle East, and nearing the end of the record contract, Hyde and Smith decided to take a more independent approach to recording and releasing music. Excited by the idea of the long tail effect described in a '' Wired'' article and the writings of Robert Fripp, the band decided on going fully independent and releasing music through online distribution, free downloads, and live broadcasts, an idea the band had talked about for over 20 years. Underworld are a British electronic music group formed in 1987 in Cardiff, Wales and the principal collaborative project of Karl Hyde and Rick Smith. Prominent former members include Darren Emerson, from 1991 to 2001, and Darren Price, as part of the live band from 2005 to 2016. Paul Woolford (born 1976) is a British dance music producer and DJ from Leeds, Yorkshire, who also uses the aliases Bobby Peru and Special Request, such as on the underground hit, "Erotic Discourse". Biography An adoptee, Woolford grew up in Leeds with his brother Mark. Paul was inspired by the club night Back to Basics, eventually becoming a resident there. Wighnomy Brothers were an electronic music duo from Jena, Germany, composed of Gabor Schablitzki (aka Robag Wruhme) and Sören Bodner (aka Monkey Maffia). Wighnomy Brothers' live mixes include an eclectic blend of deep house, minimal techno, jazz, and soul, and their original releases are infused with a unique deep-house sound. Tomato is a multi-discipline design and film collective, founded in London in 1991 by Steve Baker, Dirk van Dooren, Simon Taylor, John Warwicker and Graham Wood, plus musicians Karl Hyde and Rick Smith of the electronic group Underworld and Colin Vearncombe, the artist also known as Black.
