Michel Rivard (musician)
Michel Rivard (born September 27, 1951) is a singer-songwriter and musician from Quebec. He was born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. His father, , was an actor. Michel began his career at an early age appearing in a Canadian television series ('' Rue des Pignons'') and in TV commercials. Rivard's career as a writer and composer began in earnest when he became a member of the theatrical group Quenouille Bleue, established in 1970. Later, he became a member of Théâtre Sainfoin, when it was founded in 1973. Beau Dommage and beyond In 1974, Rivard and other members of Théâtre Sainfoin, formed the group Beau Dommage (an old Québécois expression meaning "certainly" or "damn right"). Rivard wrote and composed for Beau Dommage. Beau Dommage became a very popular group, and as a result of his songwriting ability Rivard's popularity increased as well. Augustin Rivard
Augustin-Amable Rivard Dufresne (1743 – May 5, 1798) was a farmer and political figure in Lower Canada. He was born either Augustin-Amable Rivard dit Dufresne, or Augustin-Amable Laglanderie Dufresne, depending on the source of information at Yamachiche March 11, 1742 or 1743, the son of farmer Joseph Laglanderie Dufresne (Rivard). He settled on land inherited from his parents in the seigneury of Gatineau. Rivard was named a sub-baillif at Yamachiche in 1767. He was elected to the 1st Parliament of Lower Canada for Saint-Maurice in 1792. Rivard had a wooden leg due to an earlier accident. It should be mentioned that the Rivard family does not generally associate the Laglanderie name with Augsustin-Amable, or his father Joseph, but other branches of the Rivard family did have Laglanderie as a dit name, and some adopted it as a surname in place of Rivard. Aurélie Rivard (born May 14, 1996) is a Canadian swimmer. (search for "Rivard") After winning three Paralympics gold medals, claiming a silver Paralympic medal and setting two World Records and a Paralympic Record at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, the Paraswimmer was named Canada's flag-bearer for the closing ceremony. She competed at the 2020 Summer Paralympics, winning a bronze medal. Career A Quebecer, she is from Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, where she trained at the Club de natation du Haut-Richelieu. In 2017 she moved to Montreal and began training with Canada's High Performance Center. Lucien Rivard (June 16, 1914 – February 3, 2002) was a Quebec criminal known for a sensational prison escape in 1965. Background Rivard had been engaged in robbery and smuggling drugs since the 1940s. He has been described as a "petty crook" in his early years, but in the 1950s he moved to Cuba and operated a casino, and became involved in the heroin business. In 1958 he moved back to Laval, Quebec, and operated the business "Domaine Idéal" to continue dealing drugs and weapons. In 1965, Rivard was in a Montreal prison, but used a water hose to climb a wall and escape. He was missing for four months before being caught and extradited to the United States. He was on active military service during World War I and World War II.
