Rita Hrbacek is an Austrian retired ice hockey administrator. She joined the Austrian Ice Hockey Association The Austrian Ice Hockey Association (german: Österreichischer Eishockeyverband, ÖEHV) is an association of Austrian sports clubs with ice hockey activities. The highest-level hockey league in Austria is the Austrian Hockey League which is also ... in 1964 working as a secretary until 1976. She then transferred to the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) working as a secretary until 1983. She returned to the Austrian Ice Hockey Association as its secretary general in 1989. She retired her position on 31 May 2004 after 40 years of service to ice hockey, and was succeeded by Christian Hartl as the secretary general. The IIHF made Hrbacek the Paul Loicq Award recipient in 2005, for her services to international ice hockey. The International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF; french: Fédération internationale de hockey sur glace; german: Internationale Eishockey-Föderation) is a worldwide governing body for ice hockey. It is based in Zürich, Zurich, Switzerland, and has 83 member countries. The IIHF maintains the IIHF World Ranking based on international ice hockey tournaments. Rules of play for IIHF events differ from hockey in North America and the rules of the National Hockey League (NHL).
