Rita Albrecht
Rita Albrecht (born ) is an American public servant and former politician who was the mayor of Bemidji, Minnesota from 2012 to 2020. She was appointed to the Legislative-Citizen Commission on Minnesota Resources by governor Tim Walz in 2021. Life Albrecht was born and was raised in Big Falls, Minnesota. She attended Little-fork-Big Falls K-12 school where her father was the elementary school principal. Her mother worked for Boise Cascade. Albrecht earned degrees in geography and education from Bemidji State University in 2001. Albrecht worked as a community planner before working as the northwest regional director in the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources until 2019. In 2010, she was elected to the city council of Bemidji, Minnesota. She served as its mayor from 2012 to 2020. Bemidji State University
Bemidji State University (BSU) is a public university in Bemidji, Minnesota, United States. Founded as a preparatory institution for teachers in 1919, it provides higher education to north-central Minnesota. It is part of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system. History BSU was founded in 1919 and opened under the name "Bemidji State Normal School". The first president, Manfred Deputy, was appointed to run the new institution, and the first class consisted of 38 students. The name was changed to "Bemidji State Teachers College" in 1921, then shortened to "Bemidji State College" in 1957. In 1975, it took its current name, Bemidji State University. Bemidji State University Alumni
Bemidji ( ) is a city and the county seat of Beltrami County, in northern Minnesota, United States. The population was 14,574 at the 2020 census. According to 2022 census estimates, the city is estimated to have a population of 15,946, making it the largest commercial center between Grand Forks, North Dakota and Duluth. As a central city for three Indian reservations, Bemidji is the site of many Native American services, including the Indian Health Service. Justin David Eichorn (born May 7, 1984) is an American politician who served as a member of the Minnesota Senate from 2017 to 2025. A member of the Republican Party of Minnesota, he represented District 5 from 2017 to 2023 and District 6 from 2023 until his resignation in 2025. On March 17, 2025, Eichorn was arrested during a sting operation on suspicion of soliciting a minor for sex.
