Rit (album)
Lee Mack Ritenour ( ; born January 11, 1952) is an American jazz guitarist who has been active since the late 1960s. Biography Ritenour was born in 1952, in Los Angeles, California. At the age of eight he started playing guitar and four years later decided on a career in music. When he was 16 he played on his first recording session with the Mamas & the Papas. He developed a love for jazz and was influenced by guitarist Wes Montgomery. At the age of 17 he worked with Lena Horne and Tony Bennett. He studied classical guitar at the University of Southern California. 1976–1988 Ritenour's solo career began with the album ''First Course'' (1976), a good example of the jazz-funk sound of the 1970s, followed by ''Captain Fingers'', ''The Captain's Journey'' (1978), and ''Feel the Night'' (1979). Stockholm Jazz Festival
Stockholm Jazz Festival is an annual music festival that was established in 1980 in Stockholm, Sweden, originally called the Stockholm Jazz and Blues Festival. A portion of the first festival was broadcast on Swedish television. Overview Claiming to be one of the oldest festivals in Sweden, the Stockholm Jazz Festival celebrated its 20th birthday in 2003, refusing to give up its main venue on Skeppsholmen since long having a status as the soul of the festival, the backdrop of the Stockholm harbor regarded as the distinguishing mark of the festival. Fourplay
Fourplay (stylized as fOURPLAY) is a contemporary American smooth jazz quartet. The original members of the group were Bob James (keyboards), Lee Ritenour (guitars), Nathan East (bass), and Harvey Mason (drums). In 1997, Ritenour left the group and Fourplay chose Larry Carlton as his replacement. In 2010, Carlton left Fourplay and was replaced by Chuck Loeb, who died on July 31, 2017. During Loeb's illness, saxophonist Kirk Whalum joined the group for performances. The group has enjoyed consistent artistic and commercial success by grafting elements of R&B and pop to jazz, appealing to a broad mainstream audience. Their debut album, '' Fourplay'' (1991), sold over a million copies and remained at the number one position on the ''Billboard'' contemporary jazz chart for 33 weeks. "One of My Turns" is a song by the English rock band Pink Floyd, appearing on their 1979 album '' The Wall''. The song was also released as a B-side on the single of " Another Brick in the Wall (Part 2)". Composition The song is split into distinct segments: a groupie ( Trudy Young) performs a monologue (''"Oh my God, what a fabulous room!"'') while a television plays, under which a synthesizer makes atonal sounds, which eventually resolve into a quiet song in C major in 3/4 time (''"Day after day / Love turns grey / Like the skin of a dying man."''). Finally, the song abruptly leaps into a hard rock song in B-flat major in 4/4 time. "Run Like Hell" is a song by the English progressive rock band Pink Floyd, written by David Gilmour and Roger Waters. It appears on their eleventh studio album '' The Wall'' (1979) and was released as a single in 1980, reaching #15 in the Canadian singles chart and #18 in Sweden but it only reached #53 in the U.S. A 12" single of "Run Like Hell," " Don't Leave Me Now" and " Another Brick in the Wall (Part 2)" peaked at #57 on the Disco Top 100 chart in the U.S. To date, it’s the last original composition written by both Gilmour and Waters, the final of such under the Pink Floyd banner and the last song recorded by all four members of the 1970s-era Floyd lineup. Anthony Dominick Benedetto (August 3, 1926 – July 21, 2023), known professionally as Tony Bennett, was an American jazz and traditional pop singer. Lena Horne
Lena Mary Calhoun Horne (June 30, 1917 – May 9, 2010) was an American singer, actress, dancer and civil rights activist. Horne's career spanned more than seventy years and covered film, television and theatre. Horne joined the chorus of the Cotton Club at the age of sixteen and became a nightclub performer before moving on to Cinema of the United States, Hollywood and Broadway theatre, Broadway. A groundbreaking African-American performer, Horne advocated for civil rights and took part in the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom, March on Washington in August 1963. Later she returned to her roots as a nightclub performer and continued to work on television while releasing well-received record albums.
