Castle Rising is a village and civil parish in the English county of Norfolk. Castle Rising is located along the course of the River Babingley, separating the village from the lost village of Babingley. The village is located north-east of King's Lynn and north-west of Norwich. History Castle Rising's name is of Norman and Anglo-Saxon origin, deriving from a mix of the Old English and Norman French for a castle close to the settlement of Risa's people. ''Rising'' is a 1976 novel by R. C. Hutchinson. The novel, posthumously published by Michael Joseph following the author's death the previous year, was shortlisted for the 1976 Booker Prize. Hutchinson was writing the novel's final section when he died, and an outline of the conclusion, based on his notes, was included in a postscript written by his widow. Summary Set in a remote region of the Andes, ''Rising'' follows Sabino as he leads a peasant militia against rebels who are attacking a railway line that is vital to his family's copper mine. Sabino, who is famed for his brutality, is diverted from his mission by the pursuit of a doctor, Papac, whom he wrongly blames for being spurned by a former lover. Rising (stylised RISING) is a city-wide arts festival held in Melbourne, Australia. The festival was announced in 2020 as Melbourne's premier arts and culture festival, replacing the Melbourne International Arts Festival and White Night Festival Melbourne, White Night Festival, and is supported by the Victoria State Government. Following two attempts to launch the festival in 2020 and 2021 disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic, coronavirus pandemic, Rising has been held annually each June in Melbourne from 2022. The Melbourne Rising was an Australian rugby union team based in Melbourne that competed in the National Rugby Championship (NRC). The team represented the rugby community in Victoria, Australia, Victoria and was organised and managed by Rugby Victoria with the coaching and training programs used by the Melbourne Rebels being extended to players joining the team from the Rebels, the local Dewar Shield competition, and local Victorian juniors. The NRC was launched in 2014, reinstating the national competition after an absence of six years. Percival Sumner "Pop" Rising (January 24, 1877 – January 28, 1938) was an American right fielder in Major League Baseball who played briefly for the Boston Americans during the season. Biography Rising was born in Industry, Pennsylvania on January 24, 1877. He threw right-handed (unknown batting side). His contract was purchased by the Boston Americans from the New London, Connecticut team for $1,200 on August 8, 1905. During his eleven-game career, Rising was a .103 hitter (3-for-29) with two runs, two RBI, one double and one triple without home runs. In six outfield appearances, he never committed an error in nine chances for a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage. He also played an errorless game at third base (two chances).
