Rise Above (Epic Soundtracks Album)
''Rise Above'' is the 1992 solo full-length debut album by singer-songwriter Epic Soundtracks (stage name of Kevin Paul Godfrey). He had previously been known as the drummer/pianist with the bands Swell Maps, Jacobites, Crime & the City Solution and These Immortal Souls. It was released by American label Bar/None Records in 1993. With its emphasis on a melodic singer-songwriter approach, the album was a departure from the post punk and gothic rock sounds of the groups he had earlier recorded with. Other musicians appearing on the album include Lee Ranaldo and Kim Gordon (Sonic Youth), J Mascis (Dinosaur Jr.), Martyn Casey (The Bad Seeds), Anthony Thistlethwaite (The Waterboys), Will Pepper ( Thee Hypnotics) and Rowland S. Howard ( The Birthday Party). The album followed a decade of insecurity regarding his own singing (his earlier release ''Popular Classical'' featured Robert Wyatt on vocals) and passionate record collecting. The latter is evident in typeface and colours on the ...

Rise Above (JK Flesh Album)
''Rise Above'' is the second studio album by JK Flesh, a moniker of English musician Justin Broadrick, and was released digitally and on vinyl on 3 June 2016 through the label Electric Deluxe under the designation EDLX.048. It is Broadrick's fourth release under the JK Flesh title and continues the sparse, drum and bass style of '' Nothing Is Free'', the EP released a year earlier. Composition Inspired by Broadrick's childhood in industrial Birmingham, ''Rise Aboves sound is characterized by heavy distortion, kinetic beats, and noisy production. In keeping with the JK Flesh evolution, nearly all elements of industrial metal are gone from this album and replaced with starker, more synthetic sounds. John Twells of ''Fact'' wrote, "The doomy, distorted grind of Godflesh and Jesu is certainly still present, but woven into a wheezing 4/4 template that doesn’t sound a million miles from Andy Stott’s patented 'knackered house' or a Surgeon record on the wrong speed being played t ...

24 Black Flag Songs To Benefit The West Memphis Three
4 (four) is a number, numeral and digit. It is the natural number following 3 and preceding 5. It is a square number, the smallest semiprime and composite number, and is considered unlucky in many East Asian cultures. Evolution of the Hindu-Arabic digit Brahmic numerals represented 1, 2, and 3 with as many lines. 4 was simplified by joining its four lines into a cross that looks like the modern plus sign. The Shunga would add a horizontal line on top of the digit, and the Kshatrapa and Pallava evolved the digit to a point where the speed of writing was a secondary concern. The Arabs' 4 still had the early concept of the cross, but for the sake of efficiency, was made in one stroke by connecting the "western" end to the "northern" end; the "eastern" end was finished off with a curve. The Europeans dropped the finishing curve and gradually made the digit less cursive, ending up with a digit very close to the original Brahmin cross. While the shape of the character for ...

The Tribe 8 Documentary
''The'' is a grammatical article in English, denoting nouns that are already or about to be mentioned, under discussion, implied or otherwise presumed familiar to listeners, readers, or speakers. It is the definite article in English. ''The'' is the most frequently used word in the English language; studies and analyses of texts have found it to account for seven percent of all printed English-language words. It is derived from gendered articles in Old English which combined in Middle English and now has a single form used with nouns of any gender. The word can be used with both singular and plural nouns, and with a noun that starts with any letter. This is different from many other languages, which have different forms of the definite article for different genders or numbers. Pronunciation In most dialects, "the" is pronounced as (with the voiced dental fricative followed by a schwa) when followed by a consonant sound, and as (homophone of the archaic pronoun ''thee'') ...

Rise Above Records
Rise Above Records is a London-based independent record label owned by Lee Dorrian, former member of Cathedral and Napalm Death. Founding Lee Dorrian started Rise Above Records in 1988 without the intention of the label being an ongoing position. It was during the same year that he had left his previous band, Napalm Death. Dorrian explained that it was predominantly done to "get the Unemployment benefits, dole off my back as they were asking a lot of questions as Napalm Death were on the front cover of the ''NME'' and on TV three times in one week, but I was still living in a council flat and couldn't even afford the rent." Rise Above Records was initially started up on the Enterprise Allowance Scheme, a Conservative government initiative which fronted cash to young entrepreneurs. Style Dorrian's initial intention was to release hardcore punk music and limited edition releases. The label was named after the Black Flag (band), Black Flag song of the same name.
