''Rise'' is a 2022 biographical sports drama film directed by Akin Omotoso, from a script written by Arash Amel. Based on the true story of four young Nigerian-Greek brothers, Giannis, Thanasis, Alex and Kostas Antetokounmpo, who emigrate to the United States and rise to fame and success within the National Basketball Association. The film stars newcomers Uche Agada, Ral Agada, and Jaden Osimuwa, Dharen from Kisugu in the three primary roles; with Elijah Shomanke, Yetide Badaki, and Dayo Okeniyi in supporting family roles. ''Rise'' was produced by Walt Disney Pictures and released as a Disney+ original film on June 24, 2022. It received generally positive reviews from critics. ''Rise'' is a 2014 Australian crime drama film. It was written and directed by Mack Lindon and stars Nathan Wilson as a man falsely accused of rape. The film is based on Lindon's own experiences. Synopsis Based on a true story, Will McIntyre is a young nurse who is falsely accused of rape and is stripped of his career, freedom and is sent to a maximum security prison. Will forms an unlikely friendship with cellmate Jimmy, who is an armed robber, and a prominent lawyer who must compromise wage and status to prove Will's innocence. Cast Lindon appears as Baxter. Background In 2008, Lindon was sentenced to six years in a maximum security prison for the drink-spiking and rape of a 21-year-old woman in February 2006. ''Rise'' is an album by Daryl Braithwaite released in November 1990. The album reached No. 3 on the Australian ARIA Charts. It was the best-selling album in Australia in 1991. The album sold over 300,000 copies in Australia. Braithwaite was nominated for Best Male Artist at the ARIA Music Awards of 1991 for ''Rise'', but lost to ''Chain Reaction'' by John Farnham. Braithwaite commenced a national tour on 26 December 1990 in Warrnambool.
