Ringwood Football Club
Ringwood Football Club, nicknamed the Redbacks, is an Australian rules football team. It is based in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia and is part of the Eastern Football League. History Although football had been played in the district since the early 1890s, the club wasn't founded until 1899. Since its founding the club has always been involve in the local suburban competition in its area. From the Reporter League to the Ringwood District competition followed by the Croydon-Ferntree Gully FL and now the Eastern FL. The Ringwood Football Club was originally based at East Ringwood Reserve before relocating to Ringwood Reserve in 1930. In 1959, the Club relocated to Jubilee Park. Ringwood Football Club had commenced by at least 1882 It became one of the founding clubs of the Eastern District Football League in 1962. The Eastern Football Netball League (EFNL), formerly known as the Eastern Districts Football League (EDFL) and later the Eastern Football League (EFL) is an Australian rules football and netball league based in the eastern suburbs of metropolitan Melbourne. Stan Ogden
Stan Ogden is a fictional character from the British ITV soap opera ''Coronation Street'', played by Bernard Youens. Robin Close
Robin Close (born 3 November 1949) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for Essendon Football Club, Essendon in the Australian Football League, VFL during the late 1960s and 1970s. A forward, Close could play the key positions but was used mainly as a half forward flanker. He debuted in 1968 and played in Essendon’s 1968 VFL Grand Final side that year. His best seasons in front of goal were 1969 when he kicked 39, 1973 with 38 and 1975 with 36. His career stalled in 1974 when he had a leg injury but he returned the following year. He retired in 1978 having played 147 games and kicked 233 goals. After departing the league scene he played country football in the Ovens and Murray Football League initially with Myrtleford and then with Benalla Football Club, Benalla. Paul Vander Haar (born 7 March 1958) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for the Essendon Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). Known as the 'Flying Dutchman' due to his heritage and spectacular high marking, Vander Haar was considered one of the most exciting players of his era. Haydn Robins (born 9 August 1972) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with Melbourne and Richmond in the Australian Football League (AFL). After winning the Melbourne reserves best and fairest award in 1991, the Ringwood recruit broke into the Melbourne seniors for the first time in round nine of the 1992 AFL season. He made a total of 20 appearances for Melbourne over two seasons, then made his way to Richmond, via the 1994 Pre-Season Draft. (Robins had been slated to be traded in October 1993.)
