Ringtone
A ringtone is the sound made by a telephone to indicate an incoming telephone call. Originally referring to the sound of electromechanical striking of bells or gongs, the term refers to any sound by any device alerting of an incoming call. On plain old telephone services (POTS), starting in the late 19th century, the signal is created by superimposing ringing voltage on the direct current line voltage. Electronic telephones could produce a warbling, chirping, or other sounds. Variations of the cadence or tone of the ring signal, called ''distinctive ringing'', can be used to indicate characteristics of incoming calls. Modern telephones, especially smartphones, are manufactured with a preloaded selection of ringtones. Customers can buy or generate custom ringtones for installation on the device as a default ringtone or a distinctive ringtone used to indicate characteristics of incoming calls. "Ringtone" is a song by American experimental musical duo 100 gecs, composed of Dylan Brady and Laura Les, from 100 Gecs' debut studio album '' 1000 Gecs'' (2019). Its remix, included on their remix album '' 1000 Gecs and the Tree of Clues'' (2020), features vocals from British singer Charli XCX, American rapper Rico Nasty, and British singer Sarah Bonito of the indie pop band Kero Kero Bonito. The song's production is glitchy with " 80's video game-inspired blips" and uses heavy bass and Auto-Tune. The "Ringtone" remix was first previewed at a live DJ set in January 2020. It was released a month later, on February 24, 2020 as the third single from ''1000 Gecs and the Tree of Clues'', following the release of the " Money Machine" and "745 Sticky" remixes. ''Internet Leaks'' is the second Extended play, EP released by the American parody musician "Weird Al" Yankovic. Released digitally on August 25, 2009, its lead single is a parody of "Whatever You Like (T.I. song), Whatever You Like" by artist T.I. For Yankovic, the EP was an experiment in using the Internet as a way to release music in an efficient and timely manner. As a result, the lead single, "Whatever You Like", references the Great Recession, Great Recession of 2008. The EP also contains style parodies of the Doors, Weezer, the White Stripes, and Queen (band), Queen; all of the songs, except for "Ringtone", had been released as separate digital singles between October 2008 and August 2009, preceding the record's release.
