Riley Pickett
Riley Pickett (born October 5, 1997) is a professional Canadian football long snapper and defensive lineman for the BC Lions of the Canadian Football League (CFL). Junior career Pickett played for the Saskatoon Hilltops of the Canadian Junior Football League from 2015 to 2017. He won a Canadian Bowl championship in each of his three seasons with the Hilltops and was named the Defensive Lineman of the Year in 2017. He played in 21 games where he recorded 26 tackles, 11 assisted tackles, 16 special teams tackles, 10 sacks, and two forced fumbles. University career Pickett later joined the Saskatchewan Huskies football, Saskatchewan Huskies of U Sports football and played for the team from 2018 to 2021. He played in 21 games where he had 58.5 total tackles, 11 sacks, 16 tackles for a loss, two forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries. Long Snapper
In American football, the long snapper (or deep snapper) is a center on special teams whose duty is to snap the football over a longer distance, typically around 15 yards during punts, and 7–8 yards during field goals and extra point attempts. Overview During field goal and point after touchdown attempts, the snap is received by the holder, typically 7–8 yards away. During punts, the snap is delivered to the punter from 13–15 yards away. Following a punt snap, the snapper often executes a blocking assignment and then must cover the kick by running downfield and attempting to stop the opposing team's punt returner from advancing the ball in the opposite direction. If the punt goes uncaught, it is the snapper's responsibility to make sure the ball does not enter the end zone or bounce backward resulting in loss of yards. 2018 U Sports Football Season
The 2018 U Sports football season began on August 24, 2018 with the St. Francis Xavier X-Men visiting the Saint Mary's Huskies in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The Quebec Student Sport Federation teams played an hour later with the Laval Rouge et Or visiting the Sherbrooke Vert et Or and the McGill Redmen playing the Montreal Carabins. The Ontario University Athletics teams began play on August 25, 2018 and the Canada West teams opened their season one week later on August 31, 2018. Jorgen Hus (born September 12, 1989) is a professional Canadian football longsnapper for the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the Canadian Football League (CFL). He was drafted in the fourth round, 31st overall by the Edmonton Eskimos in the 2013 CFL Draft. The Saskatchewan Roughriders are a professional Canadian football team based in Regina, Saskatchewan. Neil McEvoy (born October 28, 1974) is the co-general manager and director of football operations for the BC Lions of the Canadian Football League (CFL). Junior career McEvoy played as a wide receiver for the Surrey Rams of the Canadian Junior Football League. Administrative career McEvoy was first hired by the BC Lions as a ticket sales representative in 1995 and moved to media relations in 1997. He then moved to the football operations department in 1999 where he was named the team's Player Personnel Coordinator. On February 11, 2014, McEvoy was promoted to Director of Football Operations and Player Personnel.
