Riich M5
The Riich M1 is a city car produced by the Chinese automaker Chery between 2009 and 2014 and sold under the marque Riich in China. The M1 was also known as the Chery M1 or Chery S18 in most of export market, and as a DR1 in Italy assembled via CKD by DR Motor in Macchia d'Isernia. A notchback version, called Riich M5, was introduced in 2010, but production ended in 2014 due to poor sales. In 2017, Chinese automobile maker Hawtai acquired the license from Chery to build the EV-based M1 and production restarted in 2018. The Hawtai model was called S1 iEV360. History Developed on the same platform as the Chery QQ, the Riich M1 (Codeproject S18) was the smallest car marketed by Riich, the Chery division intended to sell better quality and better-finished cars than the rest of the parent company. Riich
Riich () was an upmarket marque of the Chinese automaker Chery. Its models included a microvan, large sedans (the G5 and slightly bigger G6) and supermini Riich M series, including a five-door hatchback (M1), a small sedan (M5) and a five-door crossover (X1). The marque was launched in March 2009. The brand experienced poor sales and in September 2012. Due to that, Chery announced that it would be discontinued. Sales of Riich vehicles ended in April 2013. Previously Chery used the "Riich" name for a model of van (the Chery Riich) prior to the creation of the Riich sub-brand. Chery Automobile Co. Ltd., Doing business as, trading as Chery (), is a Chinese automobile manufacturer owned by Chery Holding Group Co., Ltd. Founded in 1997, it is currently the fourth largest automobile manufacturer group in China, with 2,603,916 vehicles sold in 2024. The company is headquartered in Wuhu, Anhui, China; and currently under the ownership of the Wuhu municipal government. Chery was founded in 1997 by government officials of Wuhu, who appointed Yin Tongyue, the current chairman, as the company's first technical director. Chery launched its first car called the Chery A11, Fengyun in 1999, using a licensed SEAT chassis.
