Riedell Shoe Inc. was founded in Red Wing, Minnesota, United States, in 1947 by a former Red Wing Shoes employee. The founder, Paul Riedell, wanted to design widely available and affordable ice skates. This task secured him a spot in both the ice and roller skating hall of fame. Today Paul Riedell's four grandsons employ and manufacture the most complete line of figure skates, speed, roller, and in-line skates. Valérie Marcoux (born April 1, 1980 in Ottawa, Ontario) is a Canadian former pair skater. With partner Craig Buntin, she is a three-time Canadian national champion. Prior to teaming up with Buntin in 2002, she skated with Bruno Marcotte. Marcoux announced her retirement from competitive figure skating on April 24, 2007. John Garvin Weir (; born July 2, 1984) is an American figure skater and television commentator. Jenni Vähämaa (born 26 May 1992) is a Finnish former figure skater. She is the 2007 Finlandia Trophy champion and placed in the top ten at four ISU Championships, including the 2008 European Championships. Career Vähämaa started skating at age four. She made her senior international debut at the 2007 Finlandia Trophy, which she won. She missed the 2008 Finnish Championships due to a time conflict with the Junior Grand Prix Final. Jamie Rae Salé (born April 21, 1977) is a Canadian former competitive pair skater, and a current motivational speaker and conspiracy theorist. With her former husband David Pelletier, she is the 2002 Olympic Champion and 2001 World Champion. Susanna Pöykiö (born 22 February 1982) is a Finnish former figure skater. She is a two-time European medalist (silver in 2005, bronze in 2009) and a five-time (2000, 2002, 2005–2007) Finnish national champion. Red Wing is a city in Goodhue County, Minnesota, United States, along the upper Mississippi River. The population was 16,547 at the 2020 census. It is the county seat of Goodhue County. This city is named for early 19th-century Dakota Sioux chief Red Wing.
