Riding Mountain (federal Electoral District)
Riding Mountain (formerly Dauphin—Swan River—Neepawa) is a federal electoral district in Manitoba. It encompasses a portion of Manitoba previously included in the electoral districts of Dauphin—Swan River—Marquette, Brandon—Souris and Portage—Lisgar. Dauphin—Swan River—Neepawa was created by the 2012 federal electoral boundaries redistribution and was legally defined in the 2013 representation order. It came into effect upon the call of the 42nd Canadian federal election, which was held on 19 October 2015. Following the 2022 Canadian federal electoral redistribution, this riding will be renamed Riding Mountain at the first election held after approximately April 2024. It will lose the Sioux Valley Dakota Nation plus the part of the Rural Municipality of Wallace – Woodworth that it exclaves, and the CFB Shilo area to Brandon—Souris and will gain the Municipality of Norfolk Treherne and the area around Long Plain 6 from Portage—Lisgar Portage—Lisgar ... Dauphin, Manitoba
Dauphin () is a city in Manitoba, Canada, with a population of 8,368 as of the 2021 Canadian Census. The community is surrounded by the Dauphin, Manitoba (rural municipality), Rural Municipality of Dauphin. The city takes its name from Lake Dauphin and Fort Dauphin (Manitoba), Fort Dauphin (first built 1741), which were named by explorer Pierre Gaultier de La Vérendrye in honour of the Dauphin of France, the heir to the French throne. The Long Plain First Nation () is an Ojibway and Dakota First Nations band government in Manitoba, Canada. (It also hosts a small number of Cree people as well.) Situated on a land base of primarily located in the Central Plains Region of Manitoba, its reserve lands include the Long Plain Reserve #6, the Keeshkeemaquah Reserve near Portage La Prairie, and the Madison Indian Reserve #1—the first urban reserve in Winnipeg. It is located to the southwest of Portage la Prairie along the Assiniboine River. It lies between the Rural Municipality of Portage la Prairie and the Rural Municipality of South Norfolk, and also borders another band's reserve, that of the Dakota Plains First Nation. Canadian Forces Base Shilo (CFB Shilo; ) is an operations and training base of the Canadian Armed Forces, located east of Brandon, Manitoba, Brandon, Manitoba and adjacent to Sprucewoods. 2022 Canadian Federal Electoral Redistribution
A redistribution of federal electoral districts ("ridings") began in Canada following the results of the 2021 Canadian census. The Constitution of Canada requires that federal electoral districts that compose the House of Commons undergo a redistribution of boundaries following each decennial Canadian census. The redistribution process began in October 2021; it was completed in October 2023. It is based on data obtained during the 2021 Canadian census. It is also based on the practice of giving each district only one member, which has been in effect since the 1968 election.
