Ridgeway Clocks is a division of Howard Miller Company, and is a producer of longcase clocks, mantle clocks, and wall clocks. The company's facilities are located in Zeeland Michigan. ''Furniture Today'' is a weekly American magazine about the furniture industry. It is part of the Gannett media holding company. History and profile ''Furniture Today'' was started in 1976. Grandfather Clock
A grandfather clock (also a longcase clock, tall-case clock, grandfather's clock, hall clock or floor clock) is a tall, freestanding, weight-driven pendulum clock, with the pendulum held inside the tower or waist of the case. Clocks of this style are commonly 1.8–2.4 metres (6–8 feet) tall with an enclosed pendulum and weights, suspended by either cables or chains, which have to be occasionally calibrated to keep the proper time. The case often features elaborately carved ornamentation on the hood (or bonnet), which surrounds and frames the dial, or clock face. The English clockmaker William Clement is credited with developing the form in 1670. Pendulum clocks were the world's most accurate timekeeping technology until the early 20th century. Howard Miller Clock Company
The Howard Miller Company is a Zeeland, Michigan, based manufacturer of longcase clocks and other home furnishings. History Howard Miller Clock Company was founded in 1926, as the Herman Miller Clock Company division of office furniture manufacturer Herman Miller (office equipment), Herman Miller, specializing in chiming wall and mantle clocks. It was spun off in 1937 and renamed, under the leadership of Herman Miller's son Howard C. Miller (1905–1995). Today, there is no connection between the two companies although their headquarters are across the street from one another. Starting in 1947, the Howard Miller Clock Company produced scores of modern wall clocks and table clocks designed by George Nelson Associates. The NASCAR Cup Series is the top racing series of the NASCAR, National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR), the most prestigious stock car racing series in the United States. Martinsville Speedway is a oval Oval track racing#Short track, short track in Ridgeway, Virginia, United States, a community of Martinsville, Virginia. The track has held a variety of events since its opening in 1947, primarily events sanctioned by NASCAR. Martinsville Speedway is owned by NASCAR and led by track president Clay Campbell. Originally a dirt oval, Martinsville Speedway opened in September 1947 under the ownership of Virginia businessman H. Clay Earles, Henry Clay Earles. The ValleyStar Credit Union 300 is a late model race held at Martinsville Speedway in the early fall each year since 1985. The race is commonly referred to as the "Daytona 500" of Late Model Stock racing. Since 2012, The race has been the final race of the Virginia Late Model Stock Triple Crown, following the Hampton Heat 200 at Langley Speedway and the Thunder Road Harley-Davidson 200 at South Boston Speedway. The Triple Crown wasn't awarded in 2016 (Due to Langley Speedway's brief closure) and 2020 (due to the Covid-19 Pandemic).
