Oscar Riddle
Oscar Riddle (September 27, 1877 – November 29, 1968) was an American biologist. He is known for his research into the pituitary gland and for isolating the hormone prolactin. Early career Riddle was born and raised on a farm in Cincinnati, Indiana, where he was one of eight siblings. He received a B.S. in biology from Indiana University in 1902 and a PhD in zoology at the University of Chicago in 1907. He taught physiology and biology in Saint Louis, Missouri and Puerto Rico, and he embarked on natural history expeditions to the Orinoco River in South America and Cuba. In 1912 he was appointed a research associate at the Carnegie Institution's Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory in Long Island. Biography of Oscar Riddle written by George W. Corner. Troy Riddle
Troy Riddle is an American ice hockey coach and former center. He won two National Championships with Minnesota in 2002 and 2003. Career Riddle was a high-scoring prospect coming out of high school, averaging more than 3 points per game as a senior. As an 18-year old, he spent a year playing junior hockey with the Des Moines Buccaneers and finished second in team scoring. Afterwards, his performance was strong enough for the St. Louis Blues to select him in the 4th round of the 2000 NHL Entry Draft. The following fall, Riddle began attending the University of Minnesota and joined the ice hockey program. Straight away he contributed on offense and helped Minnesota make the NCAA tournament for the first time in four years. His production increased during his sophomore season while the team posted a 30-win season and won the national championship. Toby Riddle
Toby "Winema" Riddle (born ; c. 1848 – 1920) was a Modoc woman who served as an interpreter in negotiations between the Native American Modoc tribe and the United States Army during the Modoc War (also called the Lava Beds War). She warned the peace commission of a possible Modoc attack, and she saved the life of the chairman Alfred B. Meacham when the 1873 attack took place. She and her family toured with Meacham after the war, starring in his lecture-play "Tragedy of the Lava Beds", to inform American people about the war. Meacham later published a book about Winema, which he dedicated to her. In 1891 Toby Riddle was one of the few Native American women to be awarded a military pension by the United States Congress, for her heroic actions during the peace negotiations in 1873. Theodate Pope Riddle
Theodate Pope Riddle (February 2, 1867 – August 30, 1946) was an American architect and philanthropist. She was one of the first American women architects and a survivor of the sinking of the RMS ''Lusitania''. Life Born Effie Brooks Pope in Cleveland, Ohio, she was the only child of industrialist and art collector Alfred Atmore Pope and his wife Ada Lunette Brooks and was a first cousin to Louisa Pope, the future mother of architect Philip Johnson. When Effie was 19, she changed her name to Theodate in honor of her grandmother Theodate Stackpole. She graduated from Miss Porter's School in Farmington, Connecticut and later hired faculty members to tutor her privately in architecture. The first woman to become a licensed architect in New York and the sixth woman to be licensed in Connecticut, in 1926, she was appointed a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects.
