Rick and Morty vs. Cthulhu is a four-issue mini-series comic written by Jim Zub and released in 2022-2023. The story revolves around the Smith family as they traverse a hellscape populated by the works of H. P. Lovecraft to track down and defeat Cthulhu. Summary The comic follows Rick as he attempts to save Morty from the clutches of the forces of Cthulhu. Jim Zub
Jim Zubkavich, known professionally as Jim Zub, is a Canadian comic book writer, artist, and art instructor best known for creating comics ''Skullkickers'' (2010), '' Wayward'' (2014), and ''Glitterbomb'' (2016) for Image Comics, writing on the series '' Thunderbolts'' (2016), ''Uncanny Avengers'' (2017)'','' ''Avengers: No Surrender'' (2018), and '' Champions'' (2018) for Marvel Comics, and creating '' Rick and Morty vs. Dungeons & Dragons'' (2018–2022) and '' Rick and Morty vs. Cthulhu'' (2022–2023) for Oni Press. Cthulhu is a fictional cosmic entity created by writer H. P. Lovecraft. It was introduced in his short story "The Call of Cthulhu", published by the American pulp magazine ''Weird Tales'' in 1928. Considered a Great Old One within the pantheon of Lovecraftian cosmic entities, this creature has since been featured in numerous pop culture references. Lovecraft depicts it as a gigantic entity worshipped by cultists, in the shape of a green octopus, dragon, and a caricature of human form. It is the namesake of the Lovecraft-inspired Cthulhu Mythos. The Cats Of Ulthar
"The Cats of Ulthar" is a short story written by American weird fiction author H. P. Lovecraft in June 1920. In the tale, an unnamed narrator relates the story of how a law forbidding the killing of cats came to be in a town called Ulthar. As the narrative goes, the city is home to an old couple who enjoy capturing and killing the townspeople's cats. When a caravan of wanderers passes through the city, the kitten of an orphan (Menes) traveling with the band disappears. Upon hearing of the couple's violent acts towards cats, Menes invokes a prayer before leaving town that causes the local felines to swarm the cat-killers' house and devour them. Upon witnessing the result, the local politicians pass a law forbidding the killing of cats.
