Richard Paul "Rick" Wowchuk ( ) is a Canadian politician and member of the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba, representing the electoral district of Swan River as a member of the Progressive Conservative Party of Manitoba. Swan River (electoral District)
Swan River is a provincial electoral division in the Canadian province of Manitoba. It was created in 1903, in what was then the northwestern corner of the province. Manitoba's borders expanded significantly in 1912, and Swan River is now located in the centre of the province, close to its western border with Saskatchewan. The division has seen several redistributions. The riding is bordered to the north by The Pas, to the south by Dauphin-Roblin, to the east by Lake Winnipeg and to the west by the province of Saskatchewan. Lake Winnipegosis runs through the riding. The community of Swan River is located in the riding's southwest corner. Ron Kostyshyn
Ron Kostyshyn is a Canadian politician, who was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba in the 2011 election. He represented the electoral district of Swan River as a member of the Manitoba New Democratic Party caucus. Kostyshyn was appointed Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Initiatives on January 13, 2012 under Premier Greg Selinger. He contested the 2016 election for the riding but was defeated by his Progressive Conservative opponent. Born and raised in rural Manitoba, Kostyshyn graduated from Ethelbert High School in 1974, where his children also attended. Swan River is a town in Manitoba, Canada. It is surrounded by the Municipality of Swan Valley West in the Swan River Valley region. According to the 2021 Canadian Census, Swan River had a population of 4,049, making it Manitoba's 18th largest in population. 2016 Manitoba General Election
The 2016 Manitoba general election was held on April 19, 2016 to elect members to the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba, Canada. The New Democratic Party of Manitoba, led by Greg Selinger, were defeated by the Progressive Conservative Party of Manitoba led by Brian Pallister, ending nearly 17 years of NDP government. The Tories won 40 seats, one of the largest majority governments in Manitoba history, the other one was in 1915 when Liberals also won 40 seats.
