Rick Meyers
Rick Meyers (born May 14, 1958) is an American former professional tennis player. Born and raised in Abilene, Texas, Meyers won a 5A state singles championship while at Cooper High School and played collegiate tennis for Texas Christian University, where he was named All-Southwest Conference all four years. Meyers was a main draw qualifier for the 1981 Canadian Open and fell in the first round to the sixth-seeded player Eliot Teltscher. He also made a Grand Prix tournament appearance at the Caracas Open in 1982 and was eliminated in the second round by Eddie Dibbs, after a win over Roberto Vizcaíno Roberto Vizcaíno Mallol (25 April 1957 – 11 December 2016) was a professional tennis player from Spain. Eddie Dibbs
Eddie Dibbs (born February 23, 1951) is a retired American tennis player also nicknamed "Fast Eddie". He attained a career-high singles ranking of world No. 5 in July 1978, winning 22 titles and being a runner-up another 20 times. Dibbs holds the record number of ATP Tour career match wins for a player who never reached a Grand Slam (tennis), Grand Slam final. He did reach two semifinals, both at French Open, Roland Garros, losing to Guillermo Vilas in 1975 and to Adriano Panatta in 1976. His most significant victory was defeating Jimmy Connors, 1–6, 6–1, 7–5 in London on carpet. In 1976, only one other American player, Connors, had a better record than Dibbs. Roberto Vizcaíno Mallol (25 April 1957 – 11 December 2016) was a professional tennis player from Spain. Biography Vizcaíno took part in the 1980 French Open and was beaten in the opening round by Yannick Noah. He also played in the mixed doubles, with Silvana Urroz. They made it into the second round, where they lost to Steve Krulevitz and Lucia Romanov. Also in 1980, Vizcaino was a semi-finalist at the British Hard Court Championships in Bournemouth, securing wins over John Whiteford, Stefan Simonsson and Kjell Johansson. Vizcaino defeated Antonio Zugarelli in the first round of the 1981 French Open, but was unable to get past Tony Giammalva in the second round. He competed in the men's doubles as well with Rick Fagel and the pair beat Argentinians Alejandro Ganzábal and Gustavo Guerrero, before a second round exit. The Cacharel Caracas Open was a men's tennis tournament founded as the Altimira International, also known as the Altamira International Invitation and Caracas International Championships. Eliot Teltscher (born March 15, 1959) is a retired professional American tennis player. He won the 1983 French Open Mixed Doubles. His highest ranking in singles was #6 in the world and in doubles was #38 in the world. Tennis career Early years Teltscher was born in Palos Verdes, California and lives in Irvine, California. His mother was born in Mandatory Palestine, and his father Eric, of Austrian descent, was a Holocaust survivor who immigrated to Mandatory Palestine and joined the British military, ultimately becoming an industrial engineer. He began playing tennis when he was nine, and by the time he was 17, he was ranked in the top ten in the United States junior rankings.
