Rick Lalonde
Rick Lalonde (born February 19, 1955) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player who played in the World Hockey Association (WHA). Lalonde played two games with the San Diego Mariners during the 1975–76 WHA season. He was drafted by the Mariners in the seventh round of the 1975 WHA Amateur Draft. As a youth, he and teammates Rychard Campeau and Denis Meloche played in the 1963 and 1964 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournaments with minor ice hockey teams in Ville-Émard and Saint-Jean-de-Matha, Quebec Saint-Jean-de-Matha is a municipality located within the Matawinie Regional County Municipality, Quebec, Canada, in the Lanaudière region. Defenceman
Defence or defense (in American English) in ice hockey is a player position that is primarily responsible for preventing the opposing team from scoring. They are often referred to as defencemen, D, D-men or blueliners (the latter a reference to the blue line in ice hockey which represents the boundary of the offensive zone; defencemen generally position themselves along the line to keep the puck in the zone). They were once called cover-point. In regular play, two defencemen complement three forwards and a goaltender on the ice. Exceptions include overtime during the regular season and when a team is shorthanded (i.e. has been assessed a penalty), in which two defencemen are typically joined by only two forwards and a goaltender. Ville-Émard is a neighbourhood located in the Sud-Ouest borough of Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Minor Ice Hockey
Minor hockey is an umbrella term for amateur ice hockey which is played below the junior age level. Players are classified by age, with each age group playing in its own league. The rules, especially as it relates to body contact, vary from class to class. In North America, the rules are governed by the national bodies, Hockey Canada and USA Hockey, while local hockey associations administer players and leagues for their region. Many provinces and states organize regional and provincial championship tournaments, and the highest age groups in Canada and USA also participate in national championships. Minor hockey is not to be confused with minor league professional hockey.
