Richie Jervis
Richie Jervis (born 12 October 1976) is an English cricketer. He is a right-handed batsman and right-arm medium-fast bowler who played for Staffordshire County Cricket Club, Staffordshire. He was born in Newcastle-under-Lyme. Jervis, who represented Staffordshire in the Minor Counties Championship between 1997 and 1999, made a single List A appearance for the side during the 1999 season. From the tailend, Jervis did not bat in the match, but bowled four overs, taking two wickets. His brother, Jamie Jervis, Jamie, also played Minor counties and List A cricket for Staffordshire. Richie now plays for Wood Lane in the North Staffs and South Cheshire Cricket League. Cricket
Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. The batting side scores runs by striking the ball bowled at one of the wickets with the bat and then running between the wickets, while the bowling and fielding side tries to prevent this (by preventing the ball from leaving the field, and getting the ball to either wicket) and dismiss each batter (so they are "out"). Means of dismissal include being bowled, when the ball hits the stumps and dislodges the bails, and by the fielding side either catching the ball after it is hit by the bat, but before it hits the ground, or hitting a wicket with the ball before a batter can cross the crease in front of the wicket. Staffordshire County Cricket Club
Staffordshire County Cricket Club is one of twenty national county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Staffordshire. The team is currently a member of the National Counties Championship Eastern Division and plays in the NCCA Knockout Trophy. Newcastle-under-Lyme ( RP: , ) is a market town and the administrative centre of the Borough of Newcastle-under-Lyme in Staffordshire, England. Jamie Jervis
Jamie Francis Jervis (born 5 August 1980) is a former English cricketer. Jervis was a left-handed batsman who bowled right-arm off break. He was born in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire. Jervis made his debut for Staffordshire in the 1999 MCCA Knockout Trophy against the Leicestershire Cricket Board. Jervis played Minor counties cricket for Staffordshire from 1999 to 2001, which included 14 Minor Counties Championship matches and 5 MCCA Knockout Trophy matches. In 2001, he made his only List A appearance against the Worcestershire Cricket Board in the Cheltenham & Gloucester Trophy. In this match, he scored 19 runs before being dismissed by Jonathan Wright. His brother, Richie, also played Minor counties and List A cricket for Staffordshire.
