Richard Walsh (fighter)
Richard Walsh (born 1 December 1988) is an Australian Mixed martial arts, mixed martial artist. He previously competed in the Welterweight (MMA), Welterweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship, UFC. He was also a semi-finalist on ''The Ultimate Fighter Nations: Canada vs. Australia, The Ultimate Fighter: Canada vs. Australia''. Background Walsh graduated from Saint Ignatius' College, Riverview, St. Ignatius College in Sydney in 2006. He went on to complete a bachelor's degree in construction at the University of New South Wales before going to study abroad at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta. Walsh also enrolled in postgraduate law, but chose instead to pursue mixed martial arts. He trains out of VT1 Martial Arts in Chatswood. Mixed martial arts weight classes are weight classes that pertain to the sport of mixed martial arts. Unified Rules of Mixed Martial Arts Prior to state sanctioning, weight classes were not mandatory since the competitions were held without the approval of the athletic commissions. For instance, the Ultimate Fighting Championship introduced two weight classes at ''UFC 12'': heavyweight, which grouped competitors above 200 lb (91 kg), and lightweight, which grouped competitors under 200 lb. Weight classes underwent many changes in the ensuing years, but the ability of promotions to autonomously decide their own weight classes eventually disappeared after athletic commissions began supervising mixed martial arts. In 2000, the Unified Rules of Mixed Martial Arts were codified by the New Jersey State Athletic Commission. ''UFC Fight Night: Hunt vs. Nelson'' (also known as ''UFC Fight Night 52'') was a mixed martial arts event held on September 20, 2014, at Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan. Background The event was the third time that the organization hosted a fight card in Saitama, following UFC 144: Edgar vs. Henderson in February 2012 and '' UFC on Fuel TV: Silva vs. Stann'' in March 2013. The event was headlined by a heavyweight bout between Roy Nelson and Mark Hunt. Tatsuya Kawajiri was briefly linked to a matchup at the event with Darren Elkins, however the bout never materialized as Kawajiri was sidelined indefinitely with a detached retina. Hunting is the human practice of seeking, pursuing, capturing, and killing wildlife or feral animals.
