Richard Vasey
Richard Vasey (born 1985) is an English rugby union player, currently playing at Fly-half for Caldy in National League 2 North. A talented player who has experience of playing at a higher level with clubs such as Leeds Carnegie and Moseley, Vasey is a reliable points kicker who has become one of the most prolific in National League 2 North history with over 1,400 points for Caldy. He has also been capped by England Students. Career Leeds Carnegie Vasey was born in Leeds but grew up in nearby Wakefield where he attended Silcoates School. On finishing school he enrolled at Leeds Metropolitan University to study business and finance alongside playing rugby union for local side, Morley. While at Morley Vasey came to the attention of Leeds Carnegie (then known as Leeds Tykes), for who he signed in 2005. The RFU Knockout Cup was an English rugby union competition open to any member of the Rugby Football Union. First contested in 1971, it was the premier competition in English club rugby before the establishment of the English league structure in 1987. The competition was replaced by the Anglo-Welsh Cup, involving 4 Welsh regional sides in addition to the 12 English Premiership clubs, beginning with the 2005–06 season. Sale Sharks
Sale Sharks is a professional rugby union club from Greater Manchester, England. They play in Premiership Rugby, England's top division of rugby. Originally founded in 1861 as Sale Football Club, now a distinct amateur club, they adopted the nickname Sharks in 1999. Since 2012 they have played their home games at the A.J. Bell Stadium in Barton-upon-Irwell, Salford. Between 1905 and 2003 they played at Heywood Road in Sale, before moving to Edgeley Park in Stockport where they stayed until 2012. The County Championship is an annual rugby union competition in England between teams representing English counties. After restructuring in 2007 the top tier of the Championship has been known as the Bill Beaumont Cup, after the trophy awarded to the competition winners was named in honour of Bill Beaumont, a former England and British & Irish Lions captain. In 2017 the competition was officially known as Bill Beaumont Division 1, with teams also competing in Division 2 and Division 3, which prior to 2017 were known as the Plate and Shield competitions. EDF Energy Trophy
The EDF National Trophy was a cup competition which ran from 2006 to 2009 for the 118 clubs of the Rugby Football Union from National Division One and below. Previously these teams had played in the Powergen Cup, but were excluded from that cup under a new format adopted for the 2005–06 season. The Trophy was replaced by the British and Irish Cup from the 2009–10 season. The EDF National Trophy retained the knock-out structure of the old Powergen Cup. In addition to gate receipts, prize money was awarded on an elimination basis. Teams who exited the competition in the third round were reported to have earned £5,500, teams eliminated in the fourth round were paid £6,600 for their participation.
