Richard Tandy
Richard Tandy (26 March 1948 – 1 May 2024) was an English musician. He was the full-time keyboardist in the band Electric Light Orchestra ("ELO"). His palette of keyboards (including Minimoog, Clavinet, Mellotron, and piano) was an important ingredient in the group's sound, especially on the albums '' A New World Record'' (1976), '' Out of the Blue'' (1977), ''Discovery'' (1979) and ''Time'' (1981). He collaborated musically with ELO frontman Jeff Lynne on many projects, among them songs for the '' Electric Dreams'' soundtrack, Lynne's solo album ''Armchair Theatre'' and Lynne-produced Dave Edmunds album ''Information''. Tandy was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2017 as a member of Electric Light Orchestra. A New World Record
''A New World Record'' is the sixth studio album by the English rock band Electric Light Orchestra (ELO). It was released on 15 October 1976, by United Artists Records in the United States and on 19 November 1976, by Jet Records in the United Kingdom. ''A New World Record'' marked ELO's shift towards shorter pop songs, a trend which would continue across their career. Their second album to be recorded at Musicland Studios in Munich, the LP proved to be the band's breakthrough in the UK; after their previous three studio recordings failed to chart in their home country, ''A New World Record'' became their first top ten album on the UK Albums Chart. The Move
The Move were a British Rock music, rock band formed in Birmingham in 1965. They scored nine Top 40, top 20 UK singles in five years, but were among the most popular British bands not to find any real success in the United States. For most of their career The Move were led by guitarist, singer and songwriter Roy Wood. He wrote all the group's UK singles and, from 1968, also sang lead vocals on many songs. Initially, the band had four main vocalists (Wood, Carl Wayne, Trevor Burton, and Ace Kefford, Chris "Ace" Kefford) who divided the lead-vocal duties among themselves. The Move evolved from several mid-1960s Birmingham-based groups, including Carl Wayne & the Vikings, the Nightriders, and the Mayfair Set. Harpsichord
A harpsichord is a musical instrument played by means of a musical keyboard, keyboard. Bev Bevan
Beverley Bevan (born 25 November 1944) is an English rock musician who was the drummer and one of the original members of the Move and Electric Light Orchestra (ELO). After the end of ELO in 1986, he founded ELO Part II. Bevan also was a drummer for Black Sabbath during the Born Again Tour, and later played percussion on '' The Eternal Idol'' in 1987. Moseley School and Sixth Form is a coeducational secondary school and sixth form located in the Moseley area of Birmingham, England. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (RRHOF), also simply referred to as the Rock Hall, is a museum and hall of fame located in downtown Cleveland, Ohio, United States, on the shore of Lake Erie. The museum documents the history of rock music and the artists, producers, engineers, and other notable figures and personnel who have influenced its development. ''Information'' is a 1983 album by Welsh rock musician Dave Edmunds. The album was his second release for Arista Records (in the UK) and Columbia Records (in the US). ''Information'' marked the first time in Edmunds' solo career that he collaborated with an outside producer. Electric Light Orchestra frontman Jeff Lynne produced two songs on the album: the title track, and the Lynne-penned " Slipping Away". The latter would become Edmunds' first American top-40 hit in 13 years (and his last top-40 hit to date), reaching #39 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100. Dave Edmunds
David William Edmunds (born 15 April 1944) is a Welsh retired singer, songwriter, guitarist and record producer. Although he is mainly associated with Pub rock (United Kingdom), pub rock and New wave music, new wave, having many hit record, hits in the 1970s and early 1980s, his natural leaning has always been towards 1950s-style rock and roll and rockabilly. Armchair Theatre (Jeff Lynne Album)
''Armchair Theatre'' is the first solo album by Jeff Lynne, released in 1990. History The album reunited Lynne with Electric Light Orchestra's keyboard player Richard Tandy and featured fellow Traveling Wilburys member George Harrison (both Harrison and the Wilburys were signed to Warner Bros. Records, parent of Reprise Records which released this album). Lynne wrote and recorded "Now You're Gone" as a tribute to his late mother. The album also features cover versions of two classics: "September Song" and " Stormy Weather". The songs " Every Little Thing" and "Lift Me Up" were released as singles, both featuring non-album b-sides, "I'm Gone" from the former and "Borderline" and "Sirens" from the latter. Despite positive reviews the album became only a minor hit. ''Electric Dreams'' is a soundtrack album from the film '' Electric Dreams'', released in 1984. Overview Several popular rock and new wave musicians of the 1980s contributed original music to the film's soundtrack. It was available throughout Europe but remained unreleased on compact disc in the U.S. until September 1998. The song "Together in Electric Dreams" by Philip Oakey and Giorgio Moroder was released as a single and became an international hit in 1984. Jeff Lynne
Jeffrey Lynne (born 30 December 1947) is an English musician, singer-songwriter and record producer. He is the co-founder and, latterly, sole member of the rock band Electric Light Orchestra (ELO) which was formed in 1970. He has written all of the band's music since 1972, including hits such as " Evil Woman", " Livin' Thing", "Telephone Line", " Mr. Blue Sky", " Don't Bring Me Down" and " Hold On Tight". He also has had a solo career, with two albums: '' Armchair Theatre'' (1990) and ''Long Wave'' (2012). Born in Birmingham, Lynne became interested in music during his youth and was heavily inspired by the Beatles. He began his music career in 1963 as a member of the Andicaps, then left the group the next year to join the Chads. From 1966 to 1970, he was a founding member and principal songwriter of the Idle Race.
