Richard Stevens was an American tennis player active in the late 19th century and early 20th century. Career He played his first event in 1882 at the San Gabriel Tournament in San Gabriel, Palm Coast, Florida where he reached the final before losing tro Arthur Allen. Stevens reached the quarterfinals of the U.S. National Championships six times: in 1892, 1893, 1894, 1896, 1898 and 1905. His other career singles highlights included winning the Seabright Invitational in 1892, the Westchester Invitation in 1892, the Middle States Championships two years in a row in 1892 and 1893, and the New Jersey State Championships in 1899. Ornamenta (minor planet designation: 350 Ornamenta) is a relatively large main-belt asteroid, measuring 118 km in diameter. It is classified as a C-type asteroid and is probably composed of carbonaceous material. Ornamenta was discovered by Auguste Charlois on December 14, 1892, in Nice, France. It was named in 1905 in honor of Antoinette Horneman, who was a member of the Société astronomique de France. During 2002, the asteroid was observed occulting a star. The resulting chords provided a diameter estimate of 99.5 km. This object is the namesake of a family of 14–93 asteroids that share similar spectral properties and orbital elements; hence they may have arisen from the same collisional event. The Westchester County Championships was a tennis tournament founded in 1885 as the Westchester Lawn Tennis Club (Invitation) and first played at the Westchester Lawn Tennis Club, Harrison, Westchester County, New York, United States on grass courts, later switching to clay courts, the finally hard courts. The US Open Tennis Championships is a hardcourt tennis tournament held annually in Queens, New York.
