Richard Richards (judge)
Sir Richard Richards (5 November 1752 – 11 November 1823) was a Welsh politician and judge. He was Member of Parliament for Helston on two occasions, but only made one speech in Parliament. He was later a successful chancery barrister, eventually becoming Lord Chief Baron of the Exchequer. Life Richards was born on 5 November 1752 at Coed, Brithdir, near Dolgellau in Merionethshire. He was the eldest son of Thomas Richards and his wife, Catherine, whose brother (William Parry) was warden of Ruthin, Denbighshire. His grandfather, also called William Parry, was headmaster of Ruthin School and Richards was educated there. Richards then progressed to Oxford University, matriculating as a member of Jesus College, Oxford on 19 March 1771. He transferred to Wadham College, Oxford on 7 May 1773 and obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree on 10 October 1774. Sir Richard Watkins Richards (19 July 1863 – 12 March 1920), commonly referred to as R. W. Richards, was Lord Mayor of Sydney in 1914–1915 and 1919–1920. Early life and career Richards was born in Wales in 1863 and came to New South Wales as a child. He was appointed City Surveyor in 1887 and retained this position until 1901. In 1919 he was appointed as a Director on the board of Sydney Hospital. He was appointed to Dunedin City Council as Town Clerk and City Engineer in 1905 and was responsible for designing the first underground conveniences in this city, after designing the first one in Sydney 24 May 1901. His voluminous report into the options around underground facilities brought Dunedin into a new age of modernity around publicly supplied facilities. Richard Richards (May 14, 1932 – January 30, 2015) was an American political activist who served as chairman of the Republican National Committee from 1981 to 1983. He was active in the Republican party and politics from the late 1960s until the 1980s. He was born in Ogden, Utah. Richards served in the United States Army from 1952 until 1955, finishing his service as an officer with the 7th Cavalry Regiment. Before being drafted, Richards had been active in politics, organizing the Junior Republican League while studying at Weber State College in Ogden, Utah. The Rank Prizes comprise the Rank Prize for Optoelectronics and the Rank Prize for Nutrition. The prizes recognise, reward and encourage researchers working in the respective fields of optoelectronics and nutrition. The Georgia Satellites are an American Southern rock band from Atlanta, Georgia. They achieved mainstream success with their 1986 self-titled debut album, featuring their best-known single "Keep Your Hands to Yourself", which peaked at No. 2 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100. Two more albums followed – '' Open All Night'' (1988) and the band's last to feature original material ''In the Land of Salvation and Sin'' (1989) – before they went on hiatus in 1990.
