Richard Moriarty
Richard Moriarty (born 1 May 1957 at Gorseinon near Swansea) is a Welsh former rugby union player. He played 23 matches for Wales, either as a second row or back row forward, scoring two tries, and captained Wales eight times. During his time as Welsh captain, he lost only once, in the semi-finals of the inaugural Rugby World Cup against the eventual winners, New Zealand. Wales beat Australia to claim third place, still the best performance by Wales in a Rugby World Cup. He has been quoted as saying that captaining the Welsh side at the first world cup was the "icing on the cake" of his career. He has been heavily involved with Swansea RFC throughout his career. As a player, he holds the club's all-time record for appearances, 472 in a career spanning over 20 years from 1976–77 to 1997–98 in which he also scored 32 tries. Gorseinon
Gorseinon is a town within the City and County of Swansea, Wales, near the Loughor estuary. It was a small village until the late 19th century, when it grew around the coal mining and tinplate industries. It is around north west of Swansea City Centre. Gorseinon is a local government community with an elected town council. The population of the Gorseinon town council area in the 2011 Census was 8,693. However, the ONS defines an area called the Gorseinon Urban Area, which comprises all of the continuous built-up area in and around Gorseinon. This area includes Gorseinon, Loughor, Garden Village and Penllergaer and had a population of 20,581. Paul Moriarty (rugby)
William Paul Moriarty (born 16 July 1964) is a Welsh former international rugby union and rugby league footballer. He played rugby union for Swansea, and represented Wales before joining rugby league club Widnes, winning the 1989 World Club Challenge, and also representing Great Britain. Moriarty later transferred from Widnes to Halifax Blue Sox, and represented Wales in two Rugby League World Cups. He later returned to rugby union, working in a number of different coaching roles and is employed as assistant coach at the Newcastle Falcons. His older brother, Richard, also played rugby union for Swansea and Wales. Paul's son, Ross Moriarty, is also a professional rugby union player. Ross Moriarty
Ross Moriarty (born 18 April 1994) is an international rugby union player, who currently plays for Brive. Moriarty has represented Wales and England U20. Personal life Moriarty was born in St Helens, Merseyside while his father, former Wales international Paul Moriarty, was in the north of England playing rugby league. Moriarty is also the nephew of former Wales international captain Richard Moriarty. He was educated at Glyncollen Primary School and Morriston Comprehensive School in Swansea, Wales. He took up rugby union at the age of ten playing for Swansea Schools and West Wales Schools.
