Richard Marks
Richard Marks (November 10, 1943 – December 31, 2018) was an American film editor with more than 30 editing credits for feature and television films dating from 1972. In an extended, notable collaboration (1983–2010), he edited all of director James L. Brooks' feature films. Marks was Barry Malkin's assistant editor on ''The Rain People'' (1969), which was directed by Francis Ford Coppola early in his career. He then assisted Dede Allen on ''Alice's Restaurant'' (1969) and on '' Little Big Man'' (1970); he co-edited '' Serpico'' (1973) with Allen. Dede Allen was among the most prominent film editors of her generation, and she was known for helping to develop the careers of several younger editors. Roger Crittenden has written that "Perhaps the outstanding graduate of the Dede Allen Academy is Richard Marks." William Oliver Stone (born ) is an American filmmaker. Stone is an acclaimed director, tackling subjects ranging from the Vietnam War and American politics to musical film, musical Biographical film, biopics and Crime film, crime dramas. ''The Hand'' is a 1981 American psychological horror film written and directed by Oliver Stone, based on the novel ''The Lizard's Tail'' by Marc Brandel. ''The Last Tycoon'' is a 1976 American period romantic drama film directed by Elia Kazan and produced by Sam Spiegel, based on Harold Pinter's screenplay adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald's unfinished novel '' The Last Tycoon''. It stars Robert De Niro and features Tony Curtis, Robert Mitchum, Jack Nicholson, Donald Pleasence, Jeanne Moreau, Theresa Russell and Ingrid Boulting. Ján Kadár
Ján Kadár (1 April 1918 – 1 June 1979) was a Slovak film writer and director of Jewish heritage. As a filmmaker, he worked in Czechoslovakia, the United States, and Canada. Most of his films were directed in tandem with Elmar Klos. The two became best known for their Oscar-winning '' The Shop on Main Street'' (''Obchod na korze'', 1965). As a professor at FAMU (Film and TV School of the Academy of Performing Arts) in Prague, Kadár trained most of the directors who spawned the Czechoslovak New Wave in the 1960s. Kadar was a dean at the American Film Institute. Early years Kadár was born in Budapest, Austria-Hungary. Later his family moved to Rožňava, in the newly created Czechoslovakia, where he grew up. ''Lies My Father Told Me'' is a 1975 Canadian drama film made in Montreal, Quebec. It was directed by Ján Kadár and stars Jeffrey Lynas as an orthodox Jewish boy growing up in 1920s Montreal. The film received the Golden Globe Award for Best Foreign Film in 1975. The original story was written by Ted Allan in 1949. Allan was working at an advertising agency. David Rome, editor of the Canadian Jewish Congress ''Bulletin'', asked him to write a story. Allan's short story is a dramatization of his own childhood memories. Allan comes from a Jewish family who lived in Montreal's Mile End neighbourhood. Duccio Tessari
Duccio Tessari (11 October 1926 – 6 September 1994) was an Italian film director, screenwriter and actor, considered one of the fathers of Spaghetti Westerns. Born in Genoa, Tessari started in the fifties as documentarist and as screenwriter of Sword-and-sandal, peplum films. In 1964 he co-wrote Sergio Leone's ''A Fistful of Dollars'', one year later he gained an impressive commercial success and launched the Giuliano Gemma's career with ''A Pistol for Ringo'' and its immediate sequel, ''The Return of Ringo''. In 1975, Tessari launched the most popular and successful European depiction of Zorro, when he directed ''Zorro (1975 Italian film), Zorro'' starring Alain Delon as the titular masked hero.
