Richard Malone (designer)
Richard Malone is an Irish artist and designer from Wexford, Ireland. Early life and background Richard Malone was born in 1990 and grew up in Wexford, Ireland. He often references his working class upbringing and Irish identity as significant influences in his work. Before his formal education in art, Malone worked with his father on building sites and began his initial studies in art at Waterford College of Further Education. Artistic career Malone graduated from Central Saint Martins in 2014. Following his graduation, his collection was purchased by Brown Thomas in Dublin. In 2017, his work was featured in the Museum of Modern Art's "Is Fashion Modern?" exhibition. In 2019, Malone was a finalist for the LVMH Prize. and, in 2020, won the Woolmark Prize. Central Saint Martins is a constituent college of the University of the Arts London, a public art university in London, England. The college offers full-time courses at foundation, undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and a variety of short and summer courses. Ormston House
Ormston House is a contemporary art gallery and cultural resource centre, in Limerick, Ireland. Background It was opened in 2011 at 9-10 Patrick Street, Limerick. It was founded after art students occupied the ground floor of the 19th-century building on Patrick Street, and turned it into a gallery and cultural resource space with the support of the Creative Limerick scheme. They have worked with over 300 artists from over 25 countries to deliver over 360 events. The name Ormston House comes from the first self-service supermarket opened in Limerick city. It was opened by Jack Ormston in 1961 in a Venetian-palazzi style building on the corner of Patrick Street and Ellen Street. Eileen Gray (born Kathleen Eileen Moray Smith; 9 August 187831 October 1976) was an Irish interior designer, furniture designer and architect who became a pioneer of the Modern architecture, Modern Movement in architecture. Over her career, she was associated with many notable European artists of her era, including Kathleen Scott, Adrienne Gorska, Le Corbusier, and the architect Jean Badovici, with whom she was romantically involved and who taught her architecture and collaborated with her on various buildings.
