Richard Kingscote
Richard Kingscote is a British jockey who competes in flat racing. He won the 2022 Epsom Derby on Desert Crown. Background Kingscote grew up in Weston-super-Mare in a family with no racing connections and started riding as a child. He attended the British Racing School and was then apprenticed to trainer Roger Charlton. Career Kingscote rode his first winner in 2004. In 2008 he became a stable jockey to trainer Tom Dascombe. On 10 July 2008, he achieved his first success in a Group race when winning the Group 2 July Stakes at Newmarket on the Dascombe-trained Classic Blade. He won his first Group 1 race in September 2014 when riding the Dascombe-trained Brown Panther in the Irish St. Leger at the Curragh. In November 2014 he broke his wrist, elbow, and collar-bone in a fall at Wolverhampton but recovered in time to ride Brown Panther to victory in the Dubai Gold Cup in March 2015. The Flying Five Stakes is a Group 1 flat horse race in Ireland open to thoroughbreds aged three years or older. It is run at the Curragh over a distance of 5 furlongs (1,006 metres), and it is scheduled to take place each year in September during Irish Champions Weekend. History The event was formerly held at Phoenix Park, and it used to be classed at Listed level. For a period it was open to horses aged two or older. It was promoted to Group 3 status in 1988, and transferred to Leopardstown in 1991. The race was moved to the Curragh and upgraded to Group 2 level in 2002. Bay Bridge (foaled 1 April 2018) is an Irish-bred, British-trained Thoroughbred racehorse. Background Bay Bridge is a bay colt with no white markings bred in England by his owner, James Wigan's London Thoroughbred Services. He was sent into training with Michael Stoute at Freemason Lodge Stables in Newmarket, Suffolk. He was from the first crop of foals sired by New Bay, who won the Prix du Jockey Club and finished third in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe as a three-year-old in 2012. Sir Michael Ronald Stoute (born 22 October 1945) is a Barbadian British Thoroughbred horse trainer in flat racing. Career Stoute, whose father was the Chief of Police for Barbados, left the island in 1964 at the age of 19 to become an assistant to trainer Pat Rohan and began training horses on his own in 1972. Wolverhampton Racecourse
Wolverhampton Racecourse is a thoroughbred horse racing venue located in Wolverhampton, West Midlands, England. The track was the first to be floodlit in Britain and often holds meetings in the evening. The track surface has been Tapeta since 2014. History There has been a racecourse in Wolverhampton since 1825, in what is now the West Park, where the Park Road follows the line of the track. This was sold to the Corporation in 1878 and, after a gap of nine years, a new course was formed at Dunstall Park. In 1993, the final National Hunt meeting took place at Wolverhampton. In December of the same year, the course was re-vamped with floodlights and a new all-weather Fibresand track that ran alongside the turf track.
