Richard Gordon (broadcaster)
Richard Gordon (born 1960) is a Scottish radio and television presenter. Gordon was born in Aberdeen and educated at Skene Square Primary, Aberdeen Grammar School and Aberdeen College of Commerce. He originally worked as a banker before beginning his first job in radio at Northsound Radio in 1987. He was the host of BBC Radio Scotland's football programme ''Sportsound'' from 1992 until 2022, and hosted the Scottish Premier League highlights on ''Sportscene'' from 2008 to 2010. Gordon also occasionally presented ''MacAulay and Co'' on Radio Scotland when usual presenter Fred MacAulay was unavailable. He is a supporter of Aberdeen F.C. and has regularly contributed to their matchday programme. He also writes for ''The Press and Journal''. Northsound Radio
Northsound Radio was the name for the original Independent Local Radio station broadcast from Aberdeen and serving the North East of Scotland. In 1995, the station split to become two separate stations. History Until summer 1981, the only local radio output available to listeners in the North East of Scotland was a regional opt-out from the BBC at Beechgrove, which broadcast specialist music programmes for a couple of hours a week along with some opt-out regional news coverage. When a commercial radio franchise for Aberdeen, Peterhead and the surrounding areas was advertised by the then-regulator, the Independent Broadcasting Authority, a group of local businessmen applied under the consortium of ''North of Scotland Radio Ltd'' and won the franchise. BBC Radio Scotland is a Scotland, Scottish radio station, radio network owned and operated by BBC Scotland, a division of the BBC. It broadcasts a wide variety of programmes. ''Sportsound'' is BBC Radio Scotland's main radio sports show. It provides coverage to listeners on medium wave, FM, DAB Digital Radio and via the internet. It is best known for its exclusive live commentary of Scottish Premiership football games. It is broadcast seven days a week, and on on-match days has an 1810–2200 slot on 810 MW. Scottish Premier League
The Scottish Premier League (SPL) was the top level league competition for professional football clubs in Scotland. The league was founded in 1998, when it broke away from the Scottish Football League (SFL). It was abolished in 2013, when the SPL and SFL merged to form the new Scottish Professional Football League, with its top division being known as the Scottish Premiership. A total of 19 clubs competed in the SPL, but only the Old Firm clubs - Celtic and Rangers - won the league championship. Frederick MacAulay (born 29 December 1956) is a Scottish comedian. For 18 years, until March 2015, he presented a daily BBC Scotland radio programme ''MacAulay and Co''. He has appeared on numerous TV shows. Background Born in Perth, MacAulay was educated at Killin Primary School, at Rattray Primary School and Blairgowrie High School, both in Blairgowrie, and at Perth Academy. In 1978 he graduated from the University of Dundee with an MA in accountancy and jurisprudence. He went on to work as an accountant in a number of companies, including the Cairngorm Chairlift Company in Aviemore. In 1984 he married Aileen; the couple have three children.
