Richard Brown (journalist)
Richard Brown (born ) is a Canadian journalist from Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. Career Brown is a former high school teacher and speech writer for Liberal Party of Canada. He started broadcast journalism with CFRN in Edmonton, Alberta. In 1981 he was one of the first news presenters of CNN Headline News. He has also presented news at Global TV Toronto, CTV Toronto, WCBS-TV NYC, KGO-TV San Francisco (1990–96), and KXLY-TV Spokane, Washington (1998-2007). He hosted a daily radio talk show on CKOM and CJME in Saskatchewan. Prince Albert is the third-largest city in Saskatchewan, Canada, after Saskatoon and Regina, Saskatchewan, Regina. KXLY-TV (channel 4) is a television station in Spokane, Washington, United States, affiliated with American Broadcasting Company, ABC and owned by Morgan Murphy Media. Its studios are located on West Boone Avenue in Spokane, and its transmitter sits atop Mount Spokane. The station's MeTV-affiliated second digital subchannel is also seen in the Yakima–Tri-Cities, Washington, Tri-Cities market on sister stations and fellow ABC affiliates KAPP (TV), KAPP (channel 35.2) and KVEW (channel 42.2). Rwandan Genocide
The Rwandan genocide, also known as the genocide against the Tutsi, occurred from 7 April to 19 July 1994 during the Rwandan Civil War. CJME (980 AM) is a radio station in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. Its format is news/ talk. It shares studios with sister stations CIZL-FM and CKCK-FM at 2401 Saskatchewan Drive in Regina. History CJME was founded and signed on the air on November 25, 1959, by a group of businessmen led by J. Marsh Ellis, a former radio salesman. Its original format was easy listening, but the station was not successful until it began playing top 40 music in 1963. In 1967, CJME was purchased by the Rawlinson family, owners of CKBI radio and CKBI-TV in Prince Albert. Their company later came to be called Rawlco Communications. CKOM is a radio station in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada broadcasting on 650 kHz. Its format is news/ talk. It shares studio space with sister stations CFMC-FM and CJDJ-FM at 715 Saskatchewan Crescent West, also the home of Rawlco Radio's Corporate Offices. History CKOM began broadcasting on 1340 kHz on June 8, 1951 with an output of 250 watts and its offices were based out of the historic Empire Hotel. By 1960, CKOM was broadcasting full-time on the AM frequency of 1250 kHz with an increase in power to 10,000 watts. During the earlier part of the decade, the station became a Top 40 station.
