Rich White Honky Blues
''Rich White Honky Blues'' is the fifty-fourth studio album by American musician Hank Williams Jr. The album is a collection of blues covers and was produced by Dan Auerbach from the rock group the Black Keys. Williams said in an interview that almost all the songs were recorded in one take. The Country Music Hall of Famer also mentioned that the album includes blues standards popularized by Lightnin' Hopkins, R.L. Burnside, and Muddy Waters among others. To the surprise of fans, Thunderhead Hawkins also makes an appearance on the album. The latter is Williams's alter ego when he is singing the blues. The album was inspired partly by legendary actor Redd Foxx, who was a big fan of Hank Williams, Sr. Williams Jr. states that he met the actor when he was a young boy, and recalled how Redd told his mother Audrey Williams about his love for Williams Sr.'s music. Randall Hank Williams (born May 26, 1949), known professionally as Hank Williams Jr. or Bocephus, is an American singer-songwriter and musician. His musical style is often considered a blend of southern rock, blues, and country. He is the son of country musician Hank Williams and the father of musicians Holly Williams and Hank Williams III. Rock Me Baby (song)
"Rock Me Baby" is a blues standard that has become one of the most recorded blues songs of all time. It originated as "Rockin' and Rollin'", a 1951 song by Lil' Son Jackson, itself inspired by earlier blues. Renditions by Muddy Waters and B.B. King made the song well-known. When B.B. King's recording of "Rock Me Baby" was released in 1964, it became his first single to reach the Top 40 in ''Billboard'' magazine's Hot 100 chart. In 2022, King's recording was inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame in the 'Classics of Blues Recording – Singles' category. Earlier songs B.B. King's "Rock Me Baby" is based on the 1951 song "Rockin' and Rollin'" by Lil' Son Jackson. "Take Out Some Insurance" is a blues song released in 1959 by Jimmy Reed written by Charles Singleton and Waldenese Hall but originally credited to Jesse Stone. The copyright registration for the song lists its title as "Take Out Some Insurance on Me, Baby".. Tony Sheridan recorded it with different lyrics in 1961 with The Beatles as his backing band.
