Rich Peppiatt
Rich Peppiatt is a British-Irish writer and director. He is best known for films '' Kneecap'' and '' One Rogue Reporter''. Career After graduating from the University of Warwick, Peppiatt worked as a journalist across a number of national newspapers. He first came to prominence in 2011 when his resignation letter to Daily Star proprietor Richard Desmond, for accusing the paper of Islamophobia and unethical journalism, which went viral when it was leaked to the Guardian newspaper. He became a prominent critic of tabloid behaviour, giving evidence at the Leveson Inquiry into Press Ethics. Kneecap (film)
''Kneecap'' is a 2024 comedy-drama film depicting the rise of Belfast-based hip-hop trio, Kneecap. The film stars the band members as themselves, as well as Michael Fassbender. The film premiered at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival on January 18, 2024, the first film in the Irish language to do so, where it won the NEXT Audience Award. The film had its Irish premiere at the 36th edition of the Galway Film Fleadh where it won Best Irish Film, the Audience Award and the Irish Language Feature Film Award. It was released on August 2, 2024 in the United States by Sony Pictures Classics, and on August 8th in Ireland. It is scheduled to be released in the United Kingdom on August 23, by Wildcard Distribution and Curzon Film respectively. Kneecap (band)
Kneecap are a hip hop trio from Belfast, Northern Ireland, with the stage-names Mo Chara, Móglaí Bap and DJ Próvaí. They sing in Irish and English and often reference their support for republicanism. They first began releasing music in 2017 with their single "C.E.A.R.T.A." (Irish for "RIGHTS" as in human rights). They released their first album, ''3CAG,'' in 2018, and continued to release various singles such as "Get Your Brits Out". History The group began when Móglaí Bap was out spray-painting with a friend the day before the Irish Language Act march in Belfast. He had written "Cearta" on a bus stop when the police arrived and arrested his friend while Móglaí escaped. The Sydney Film Festival is an annual competitive film festival held in Sydney, Australia, usually over 12 days in June. A number of awards are given, the top one being the Sydney Film Prize. the festival's director is Nashen Moodley. South By Southwest
South by Southwest, abbreviated as SXSW and colloquially referred to as South By, is an annual conglomeration of parallel film, interactive media, and music festivals and conferences organized jointly that take place in mid-March in Austin, Texas, United States. It began in 1987 and has continued to grow in both scope and size every year. In 2017, the conference lasted for 10 days with the interactive track lasting for five days, music for seven days, and film for nine days. ''Who Killed the KLF?'' is a 2021 documentary film by Chris Atkins about The KLF. The unauthorised documentary includes reconstructions of the band's dramatic gestures, played by actors. KLF members Jimmy Cauty and Bill Drummond refused to take part in the film or to authorise it. However, old interviews with them, recorded on audio cassettes, were used.
