Ricardo Palma University (; URP) is a private university located in Lima, Peru. Located in the district of Santiago de Surco, it was founded on July 1, 1969. It is named after Peruvian writer Ricardo Palma. History The process to create the university was started on April 12, 1969, and organised by a group headed by . By Decree Law No. 17723, dated July 1, 1969, the university was created as a member entity of the Peruvian University System, with the legal personality of private law emerging from the act of its constitution, which would have as its headquarters the city of Lima, being recognized by paragraph 30 of article 97 of law no. 23733, formerly the "university law." Alfredo Benavides Avenue
Alfredo Benavides Avenue () is one of the busiest avenues in the city of Lima, Peru. It runs for 55 blocks through the districts of Miraflores and Santiago de Surco, starting at the Bajada Balta and concluding at the eponymous bridge that crosses over the Pan-American Highway. Green

Santiago de Surco, commonly known simply as Surco, is a district of Lima, Peru. It is bordered on the north with the district of Ate Vitarte and La Molina; on the east with San Juan de Miraflores, on the west with San Borja, Surquillo, Miraflores and Barranco, and on the south with Chorrillos. Ricardo Palma
Manuel Ricardo Palma Soriano (February 7, 1833 – October 6, 1919) was a Peruvian author, scholar, librarian and politician. His magnum opus is the '' Tradiciones peruanas''. Biography According to the official account, Manuel Ricardo Palma y Carrillo was born on February 7, 1833, in Lima, inscribed as the son of Pedro Ramón Palma and Guillerma Carrillo y Pardos, possibly his grandmother. On April 6, 1837, his father married Dominga Soriano y Carrillo, Guillerma's daughter. However, the documentary evidence shows many contradictions that was pointed out by Monsignor Salvador Herrera Pinto who relying on oral traditions collected and written testimonies directed to him (a catholic bishop) concludes that Ricardo Palma was born in the town of Talavera, province of Andahuaylas, Apurímac Region.
