Riaz Ahmed (volleyball)
Riaz Ahmed (born 7 April 1939) is a former volleyball player from India. He represented the India national team as a senior player at the 1966 Asian Games. Career Riaz Ahmed was born in Mallepally, a suburb of Hyderabad. He was the eldest son of Syed Mohammed Rizvi and Afsar Jahan. He was encouraged to play volleyball from his Soccer coach in high school, because he noticed how Riaz was a one of a kind Athlete. In 1958, Riaz became a member of the Andhra Pradesh Police Academy volleyball team. In 1960, he joined the India men's national volleyball team camp with Tilakam Gopal, Abdul Basith, Balwant Singh and many other Police cadets. Riaz represented the National Team several times from 1961 to 1973. Riaz played for India's national volleyball team in the Asian Games in Bangkok (1966), where India took the 4th Seat . Mallepally
Mallepally is located near Asifnagar in Hyderabad, India. It is a locality in Hyderabad District and one of the old suburbs that have existed for a long while now. Volleyball is a team sport in which two teams of six players are separated by a net. Each team tries to score points by grounding a ball on the other team's court under organized rules. It has been a part of the official program of the Summer Olympic Games since Tokyo 1964. Beach volleyball was introduced to the programme at the Atlanta 1996. The adapted version of volleyball at the Summer Paralympic Games is sitting volleyball. The France national men's volleyball team represents the country in international competitions and friendly matches. It was the reigning European Champion in 2015 and is ranked 2nd (as of 25th July 2022) in the FIVB world ranking. France have been competing in the World League ever since the inaugural edition in 1990 and continuously since 1999. In 2006 they finished second to Brazil but had their share of disappointment in subsequent seasons. In 2009 they narrowly missed making the Final Six, falling at the last hurdle to Slovenia.
