Riaan Cruywagen (born 5 October 1945) is a South African television news reader and voice artist who has been associated with the South African Broadcasting Corporation since its first television broadcasts in 1975. Cruywagen continued to present the Afrikaans news on the SABC network every weeknight until his final broadcast on SABC 2 on 26 November 2012 at 7pm CAT. He has made approximately 7000 news broadcasts. Riaan Schoeman (born 18 September 1989) is a South African swimmer who specializes in the Individual Medley and Freestyle events. He is a multiple-time South African champion and record holder for the Individual Medley and Freestyle events. Riaan Stander (born 1972) is a South African serial killer who murdered two prostitutes in Port Elizabeth (present-day Gqeberha) in August 2007. His modus operandi consisted of picking up prostitutes in the evening, taking them back to his flatlet, slitting their throats with a bread knife, and dumping their bodies nearby. He was apprehended shortly after his final murder and sentenced to life imprisonment at his trial the following year. He had previously been convicted of culpable homicide after he fatally struck a woman with his vehicle in 2001. Early life Riaan Stander was born in 1972.
