Ri Ryong-nam
Ri Ryong-nam (, born August 8, 1960) is a North Korean politician serving as the DPRK's Ambassador to China since February 2021. With a background in economic affairs, Ri was a delegate to the 2009 North Korean parliamentary election, 12th, 2014 North Korean parliamentary election, 13th and 2019 North Korean parliamentary election, 14th convocations of the Supreme People's Assembly, chairman of the North Korean-Syrian Friendship Association and chairman of the North Korea national football team, North Korean Football Association. Biography In 1994, Ri was appointed an assistant to the Ministry of Trade in 1998 after passing through the secretary of economic affairs for the North Korean Embassy in Singapore. The Democratic People's Republic of Korea Football Association (PRKFA, ) is the governing body of football in North Korea. The association was founded in 1945 and it joined FIFA in June 1958 and the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) in September 1974. Organization PRKFA is "notoriously hard to contact". Supreme People's Assembly
The Supreme People's Assembly (SPA; ) is the legislature of North Korea. It is ostensibly the highest organ of state power and the only branch of government in North Korea, with all state organs subservient to it under the principle of unified power. However, in practice it is a rubber stamp (politics), rubber stamp legislature which exists to approve decisions made by the ruling party as a formality, and which has little to no real power of its own. 2019 North Korean Parliamentary Election
Parliamentary elections were held in North Korea on 10 March 2019 to elect the members of the 14th Supreme People's Assembly. The elections were announced on 6 January 2019. With only one candidate on the ballot in each constituency, outside observers described it as a show election. 687 candidates for the DPRK deputies to the SPA were elected. 2014 North Korean Parliamentary Election
Parliamentary elections were held in North Korea on 9 March 2014 to elect the members of the 13th Supreme People's Assembly. Background These were the first elections since Kim Jong Un became leader of the country as the leader of the Workers' Party of Korea, following the death of his father Kim Jong Il and the execution of Jang Song-thaek. Outside observers claimed the elections were an effective way to poll the population on their opinion on the government. In addition, it functioned as a way for the government to determine whether any of its citizens had illegally changed their voting district within the country, or if people had left the country. The North Korean Government did so by enforcing borders and surveillance, in order to make sure that the voter turnout is reflective of the population. Parliamentary elections were held in North Korea on 8 March 2009 to elect the members of the 12th Supreme People's Assembly. They were originally scheduled to be held in August 2008 but were postponed for unknown reasons. Observers of North Korea speculated that it was in relation to Kim Jong Il's ill health. All candidates standing in the elections in North Korea were members of one of the parties comprising the Democratic Front for the Reunification of the Fatherland. Workers' Party Of Korea
The Workers' Party of Korea (WPK), also called the Korean Workers' Party (KWP), is the sole ruling party of North Korea. Founded in 1949 from a merger between the Workers' Party of North Korea and the Workers' Party of South Korea, the WPK is the oldest active party in Korea. It also controls the Korean People's Army, North Korea's armed forces.
