Rhyl Grammar School
Rhyl High School is one of two high schools in Rhyl, Wales. It was founded in 1894. History Rhyl and District Intermediate School was founded in 1894. In 1901 the school was relocated to Grange Road and became Rhyl County School. The school subsequently became Rhyl Grammar School after the war and finally renamed as Rhyl High School. In April 2016, the school moved from the 1901 site on Grange Road to a brand new building on the site of the school playing fields. In June 2017, the school was put in lockdown for 45 minutes due to threats of violence towards pupils attending the school. The incident required the intervention of the police, resulting in the arrest of the 15-year-old culprit. Rhyl
Rhyl (; , ) is a seaside town and community in Denbighshire in Wales. The town lies on the coast of North Wales, at the mouth of the River Clwyd. To the west is Kinmel Bay and Towyn, to the east Prestatyn, and to the south-east Rhuddlan and St Asaph. At the 2011 Census, Rhyl had a population of 25,149, with Rhyl–Kinmel Bay having 31,229. Rhyl forms a conurbation with Prestatyn and its two outlying villages, the Rhyl/Prestatyn Built-up area, whose 2011 population of 46,267 makes it North Wales's most populous non-city. Rhyl was once an elegant Victorian resort town, but suffered rapid decline around the 1990s and 2000s; attempts have been made to reverse this through county investment, equal to around £15 million from Denbighshire County, however, the outcomes have been perceived with varying levels of success. Harold Lawton
Harold Walter Lawton (27 July 1899 – 24 December 2005, Greetham, Rutland) was an English scholar of French literature and, prior to his death, one of the last surviving veterans and the last prisoner of war of the First World War in Britain. Born in Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent, he volunteered for military service in 1916, enlisting with the Royal Welch Fusiliers before being transferred to the Cheshire Regiment. Upon completing training, in 1917 he was posted to the Western Front where he was transferred again, to The East Yorkshire Regiment. During the German spring offensive of 1918 his unit, the 1/4th Battalion the East Yorkshires, was sent to reinforce the line at Béthune. The Germans used infiltration tactics, where stormtroopers aimed to infiltrate weak points in defences, bypassing strongly held front line areas. Tesni Murphy (née Evans; born 15 October 1992) is a professional squash player who represents Wales and is a five-time Welsh national squash champion. She reached a career-high PSA ranking of World No.9 in November 2018, becoming the highest-ranked Welsh woman of all time and the first to break into the Top 10. Lee Congerton is a Welsh former footballer who is the Head of Senior Recruitment for SPL club Al-Ahli Saudi FC. Playing career Congerton was born on July 28, 1973. He is the son of Rhyl player Dave Congerton. While being educated at Rhyl High School he played youth international football for Wales. He signed a semi-professional contract with Rhyl, before a professional trial at Wrexham where he met Brian Flynn. However, realising that he enjoyed coaching more than playing, Congerton signed a semi-professional contract with Colwyn Bay, allowing him to study for a degree. The Vale of Clwyd () is a constituency of the Senedd. It elects one Member of the Senedd by the first past the post method of election.
