Rhydian Cowley
Rhydian Cowley (born 4 January 1991) is an Australian race walker born in Glen Waverley, Victoria who specialises in the 50 kilometres race walk and 20 kilometres race walk. Cowley competed in the 2013 World Championships in Moscow and the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. For both of his major championship competitions, Cowley qualified in the 20 kilometres race walk. He has also competed at a Summer Universiade, five World Race Walking Cups, and a World Junior Championships. In 2021, he competed at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo where he finished in 8th in the men's 50 kilometres walk with a new personal best time of 3:52.01 just 113 seconds behind the eventual winner Dawid Tomala of Poland. Dawid Tomala
Dawid Tomala (born 27 August 1989 in Tychy) is a Polish race walker. He is the reigning Olympic champion in the 50 kilometres walk, having won the gold medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Tomala also represented his country at the 2012 London Olympics, finishing 19th in the 20 km walk. He began race walking in 2003 at the UKS Maraton Korzeniowski club in Bieruń, Poland. He is coached by his father, Grzegorz Tomala. Dawid won multiple Polish national titles in racewalking. 2013 World Championships In Athletics – Men's 20 Kilometres Walk
The men's 20 kilometres walk at the 2013 World Championships in Athletics was held at the Luzhniki Stadium and Moscow streets on 11 August. The first leader was Takumi Saito who set the pace for the first 5K, opening up a gap on the pack, with his Japanese teammate Yusuke Suzuki the first to chase him down. Suzuki moved out to a 13-second lead by the 10K mark. The six chasers included all three 2012 Olympic medalists. The first to catch him was bronze medalist Wang Zhen who pulled out to the lead only to get disqualified. The World Athletics Championships (until 2019 known as the World Championships in Athletics) are a biennial athletics competition organized by World Athletics (formerly IAAF, International Association of Athletics Federations). Alongside the Olympic Games, they represent the highest level championships of senior international outdoor athletics competition for track and field athletics globally, including marathon running and race walking. Separate World Championships are held by World Athletics for certain other outdoor events, including cross-country running and half-marathon, as well as indoor and age-group championships. The 2010 World Junior Championships in Athletics was an international athletics competition for athletes under the age of 20 which was held at the Moncton Stadium in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada from 19 to 25 July 2010. A total of 44 athletics events were contested at the Championships, 22 by male and 22 by female athletes. It was the second time that the event took place in Canada, after the 1988 edition in Sudbury. This became the last event announced by Scott Davis. Katsiaryna Artsiukh of Belarus, the winner of the women's 400 m hurdles title, had a positive test for Metenolone (a banned steroid) on the day of her victory.
