Political career In 2016, District 60 incumbent Dan Fisher chose not to seek re-election. Baker ran for the seat, won a plurality of votes in a three-way Republican primary, went on to win the primary runoff, and defeated Democrat Dennis Purifoy in the general election. Baker ran for re-election in 2018; she defeated primary challenger Jacqueline Smith, and was unopposed in the general election. In 2020, she was re-elected by default. Dan Fisher (born 1958) is a former Republican member of the Oklahoma House of Representatives representing District 60 from 2012 to 2016. Fisher did not seek re-election to the Oklahoma House of Representatives in 2016. On August 22, 2017, Fisher declared that he would run for governor of Oklahoma in 2018. Background Dan Fisher grew up in Van Buren, Arkansas. Fisher earned his B. A. in Secondary Education and Mathematics from Arkansas Tech University. In 1983, he became the pastor of the Immanuel Baptist Church in Poteau, OK where he served for 9 years. In 1992 he became the senior pastor of Trinity Baptist Church in Yukon, Oklahoma. The Oklahoma House of Representatives is the lower house of the legislature of the U.S. state of Oklahoma. Its members introduce and vote on bills and resolutions, provide legislative oversight for state agencies, and help to craft the state's budget. The upper house of the Oklahoma Legislature is the Oklahoma Senate. The Oklahoma Constitution established the powers of the Oklahoma House of Representatives in 1907.
