Rhoda Shipman
Rhoda Shipman (born January 30, 1968) is a comic book writer from the United States. Biography Shipman and her husband Gary Shipman created, wrote and edited the independent comic book series '' Pakkins' Land'', which tells the story of Paul, a young boy who finds himself in a magical world filled with talking animals. The series has received critical acclaim and received an international following and numerous award nominations. Certain characters in the ''Pakkins' Land'' stories are named after Shipman's three children. In October 2021, Shipman released ''Rhoda's Little Book of Sketches'' , a 30-page sketchbook of her illustrations. Pakkins' Land
''Pakkins' Land'' is an epic all-ages fantasy story created by husband and wife team, Gary and Rhoda Shipman. Originating as a critically hailed comic book series, the story was written by the pair with Gary Shipman illustrating the series. ''Pakkins' Land'' tells the tale of Paul, a young boy who finds himself in a magical world filled with talking animals, mystery and excitement. Publication history 1995 saw the first appearance of ''Pakkins' Land'' in the form of black & white xeroxed copied issues called ashcans. Because of the nature of these first three issues being creator-produced, they were very low-edition, and as such have since become extremely rare. Gary Shipman
Gary Lee Shipman (born March 16, 1966) is an American artist, comic book illustrator and writer of '' Pakkins' Land''. He is father to three children. Biography Shipman grew up in Salinas, California and is a self-taught artist. His interest in comics and art first began at a young age, while in the sixth grade. Shipman, with wife Rhoda Shipman, first created the independently produced comic book series '' Pakkins' Land'' in 1995, both plotting out the stories together and Gary scripting, lettering, penciling, and inking the illustrations for the series. The Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards, commonly shortened to the Eisner Awards, are awards for creative achievement in American comic books. They are regarded as the most prestigious and significant awards in the comic industry and often referred to as the industry's equivalent of the Academy Awards. The first Eisners were conferred in 1988, for works published in 1987. The Eisner Awards ceremony has been held at San Diego Comic-Con every year since 1991.
