Rhiwbina Railway Station
Rhiwbina railway station is a suburban railway station serving Rhiwbina, Cardiff, Wales. It is located on the Coryton Line north of Cardiff Central. Passenger services are provided by Transport for Wales as part of the Valley Lines network. The line is served by the Sprinter classes of DMUs. History It was opened by the Cardiff Railway in 1911, and was a two-track, dual platform station. Services have previously included a service from Coryton to Cardiff Bay. Improvements to the Coryton Line are scheduled to occur from 2020 onwards, with Rhiwbina potentially becoming a part-electrified two-track station with two platforms, in mid-2021, under new proposals made by the South Wales Metro Scheme. In March 2025, the BBC included the station in a list of "Britain's 10 worst performing stations by percentage of cancelled trains". Rhiwbina
Rhiwbina (; , also ''Rhiwbina'') is a suburb and community in the north of Cardiff, the capital of Wales. Formerly a small hamlet within the parish of Whitchurch, Rhiwbina was developed throughout the twentieth century, and is now a separate ward. It retains aspects of its former character, however, and is given a Welsh village appearance by Beulah United Reformed Church (originally Capel Beulah) at the village crossroads. Modern Rhiwbina, which includes Rhiwbina Garden Village, Wenallt Hill, Rhiwbina Hill, Rhydwaedlyd and the Llanishen Fach and Pantmawr developments, is bordered by the suburbs of Whitchurch (Yr Eglwys Newydd) to the west, Llanishen to the east, and Birchgrove (Llwynbedw) to the south. South Wales Metro
The South Wales Metro () is an integrated heavy rail, light rail and bus-based public transport services and systems network being developed in South East Wales around the hub of railway station.The development will also include the electrification of the core Valley Lines and new stations: all nine lines will be electrified. The first phase was approved for development in October 2013. A new depot was constructed at Taff's Well and new trains were built by Stadler Rail in Switzerland. The first few of the new Stadler trains entered service late 2024, and the first tram-trains will enter service in the second half of 2025. Coryton Railway Station (Cardiff)
Coryton railway station serves Coryton and Pantmawr in Cardiff, Wales. It is the terminus of the Coryton Line north of Cardiff Central via Cardiff Queen Street. Passenger services are provided by Transport for Wales as part of the Valley Lines network. History The station was opened by the Cardiff Railway on 1 March 1911 as ''Coryton Halt''; it was renamed ''Coryton Halt (Glam)'' by the Great Western Railway in 1926, and relocated in 1931. The line beyond here closed to all traffic in 1952. It was proposed for closure in the Beeching Report of 1963, but survived. The station was renamed ''Coryton'' on 5 May 1969. Penarth railway station is the railway station serving the town of Penarth in the Vale of Glamorgan, South Wales. It is the terminus of Network Rail's Penarth branch running from Cogan Junction to Penarth station, from the junction and south of station. Public libraries in Cardiff are owned and operated by Cardiff Council. There are 20 public libraries in the capital of Wales, the largest of which is Cardiff Central Library.
